The Calvary Connection
May 2021
Join us for the Virtual Hope Awards
We are less than two weeks from the Hope Awards, which will be presented virtually on Wednesday, May 19th at 7pm. This virtual event is free to register and will be a chance to celebrate the accomplishments of women who are changing their lives through Calvary Women's Services' programs.

This year, Calvary is excited to recognize Melissa Bradley with the Hope Award. The Hope Award is presented annually to a local leader who offers hope and empowerment to people in need. With a lifelong commitment to empowering and investing in women, people of color, and those living in poverty, Melissa exemplifies these values.

We are also excited to recognize DAVIS Construction as our Partner of the Year for their impact at Calvary and throughout the local community.

Learn more about the Virtual Hope Awards and register here for this virtual event. The main program will be followed by a Virtual VIP Reception, open to VIP ticket holders.

We look forward to seeing you on May 19th!
Step Up DC on Zoom with CREW DC
Calvary's Step Up DC program welcomed longtime volunteers from CREW DC for an interactive workshop on how to set yourself up for success in job interviews. Volunteers shared advice and answered questions from participants.

The workshop started with volunteers sharing information on how best to prepare for interviews, especially if they are taking place over Zoom. Women then paired up with volunteers to do one-on-one mock interviews.

After the workshop, one participant commented, "This workshop was great. All of the volunteers were women from various corporate offices and we discussed advice for virtual interviews. There were so many useful reminders about how I can be best prepared for my own chances."

The women in the Step Up DC program have shown such resilience in navigating the job market throughout the pandemic. This workshop empowered women to have confidence as they approach the interview process.

Thank You Volunteers!
Volunteers are such a central part of the Calvary community. To celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Week we spent some time celebrating our incredible volunteers on Facebook and Twitter. We miss seeing everyone onsite, but have loved all of the creative ways volunteers have found to stay connected to the Calvary community this year. From great Zoom classes to sweet notes and treats, we have appreciated your support over the past year.
Thank You Hope Awards Sponsors!
We are grateful for our Hope Awards sponsors for investing in women and supporting a more equitable and inclusive future for all in our community.
