Felicia's First Days at Calvary

When I saw the bed made for me I knew I was in the right place. I felt lucky and blessed, and I knew this journey was going to be great.”
Before coming to Calvary, Felicia was struggling with substance abuse issues. For nearly 25 years she had stayed sober. Then she lost both her parents to cancer, and it was too much to bear.

After a period of homelessness and heavy drinking, she was ready for a change. “
The day I moved in was such a thrill. Everything I needed was right here. The place was so nice, I couldn’t believe it.”

You're Invited: Home for the Holidays

Join us for a delightful evening of holiday festivities in honor of women overcoming their homelessness on
Tuesday, December 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM

We'll gather together to highlight the season of giving and
celebrate Calvary's new housing program, Reach Up
. Enjoy delicious food and signature cocktails while taking in spectacular views of the National Mall.

Volunteer Spotlight: Ezell Battle
|

Ezell Battle has joined us this fall through the Oramenta Newsome Fellowship at our partner organization, LISC (the Local Initiatives Support Corporation). With her background in human services work, management, and education, she has done a wonderful job supporting Calvary’s job placement program, Step Up DC.
We took a moment to speak with Ezell about her diverse experiences at Calvary which have included helping to coordinate our Fall Career Fair and providing one-on-one support to job seekers. Check out the interview on our

Get Involved: Giving Tuesday
|
|
Giving Tuesday is less than one month away! Kick off the holiday season by helping us welcome more women home to Calvary.
Join a global day of giving by hosting your own fundraiser, or plan to donate on Tuesday, December 3rd.
We need your help as we prepare to open the doors to our new housing program, Reach Up.
Our goal is to raise $15,000 which can provide enough furniture for the common areas of 6 beautiful apartments. Will you help us turn our new house into a home and achieve our ambitious goal?

Calvary's Fall Career Fair
|
|
Last month Calvary hosted employers, service providers, and women from partner agencies at our facility on Good Hope Road for our Fall Career Fair. The event was organized in conjunction with our job placement program, Step Up DC.
Nearly 100 women from Calvary and our partner agencies mingled with 19 employers and service providers, discussing career opportunities in the DC region.

This month we are thrilled to open the doors to our new housing program, Reach Up, ensuring 30 more women will have a safe, caring home by the holiday season.
We are still in need of many items on our Reach Up Wish List. You can help us welcome more women home to Calvary by donating towels, linens, pillows, and more!

Open House: Friday, November 15th

We're having an Open House event on Friday, November 15th from 9 to 11 AM at our facility on Good Hope Road.
