Finally At Home: Deborah's Story

Before coming to Calvary Women’s Services, Deborah struggled with chronic homelessness for several years.

She had decided to go to school to pursue her dream of a career in the medical field.

Keeping up with her studies while trying to make ends meet proved nearly impossible.

With a limited income and nowhere to stay, Deborah suddenly found herself homeless. " I was going to school and sleeping at the bus stop. A couple of times I had to fend off attacks." Fortunately, an old friend recommended Calvary.

Summer Cocktails for Calvary - Wrap Up

Thank you to everyone who attended our Cocktails for Calvary reception at Cava Mezze on Thursday, June 13th. It was a lovely evening in celebration of women at Calvary who are working to end their homelessness for good.

During the event, we asked guests to help us fill another apartment with all of the things that make a home a feel like a home. Thanks to everyone's generous support, we were able to meet our goal of furnishing an entire apartment for a woman moving into our programs this summer.

Volunteer Spotlight: Melissa Reinberg

Melissa Reinberg facilitates a weekly negotiation skills class at Calvary as part of our education programs. Along with her colleague, Iris Barnett, Melissa leads group activities that demonstrate different techniques and approaches to negotiations.

“We think it’s important to try to come up with scenarios that are really going to resonate with the women and that connect to the concepts we’re trying to promote.”
