The Calvary Connection
March 2019
"A few months ago I honestly couldn’t have imagined my life taking such a positive turn. I will be forever grateful to Calvary for all of their support.” - Helen, former resident
Helen's Story
Before coming to Calvary Women’s Services, Helen had a good job as a clinical technician at a DC hospital. Unfortunately, during one of her shifts, she suffered an injury. Initially, she was able to take paid leave.

When the hospital hired new management, however, they told Helen she had to be terminated.

Still injured, Helen spent most of her time alone at home. She began to feel empty, that her life lacked a purpose. To cope with her developing depression, she turned to drugs. Without an income, she was no longer able to make rent payments. She began desperately searching for support.

Luckily, a former coworker recommended Calvary. Get the rest of the story about Helen's path toward recovery and independence on our blog.

Volunteer Spotlight: The Price Family
Anna and Everett Price are meal volunteers at Calvary Women's Services. Once a month they bring dinner to women at Calvary, but they don't do it alone.

Each month the Prices bring their children and a group of friends. "We have a lot of help from many people. It’s a big meal and we split it up among all of us."

We had a chance to talk to them about their experiences volunteering at Calvary, and why they think it's important to volunteer as a family. Read the interview on our blog.
