Determined to be Successful: Debra's Story

Before arriving at Calvary Women's Services, Debra was struggling with alcohol abuse.

For so long she had successfully kept her sobriety, supporting her large family and everyone around her.

When a close loved one passed away, however, the pressure became too much.

Volunteer Spotlight: Emma Voiles

Partners for Tomorrow: Kathy & Teri Doxsee

Kathy and Teri Doxsee have made it a point to empower women on a regular basis who are working to overcome their homelessness at Calvary. They are members of our Partners for Tomorrow program.

Through monthly, quarterly, and annual gifts, members of the Calvary community who participate in Partners for Tomorrow ensure that women continue to have access to our housing, health, education, and employment services.

Anacostia River Tour with Hogan Lovells

As part of Hogan Lovells Citizenship Day, women at Calvary were accompanied by volunteers from Hogan Lovells on a fun and informative tour of the Anacostia River by boat.

Women learned about the exciting progress of local efforts to clean up the river. They also learned about the importance of the Anacostia watershed in the greater context of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

Thank you to the volunteers from Hogan Lovells for joining us and for providing a delicious lunch back on land. Be sure to check out the photos from this exciting day.
