From the Director

I’m excited to share that the Department of Economic Development has officially moved to our new home at the County Administration Building, located at 150 Main St. in Prince Frederick. The new facility now houses several Calvert County departments and agencies, making it easier than ever to connect and collaborate.

You’ll find our office in suite 226 on the second floor—stop by and say hello if you’re in the neighborhood, or schedule a visit by emailing info@choosecalvert.com or calling 410-535-4583.

On Oct. 20-24, we celebrated Maryland Economic Development Week, recognizing the critical role economic development plays in supporting Maryland’s business climate, job growth and quality of life. As part of the celebration, the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) held its annual fall conference right here in Calvert County at the newly expanded Rod ‘N’ Reel Resort.

This year’s focus was on the importance of agriculture in our local economy, highlighted by a farm tour featuring Wilson Dowell Farms, Freedom Hill Horse Rescue, Sassafras Farms and Swann Farms. The tour showcased everything from animal rescue and pasture-raised meats to fruit and vegetable production and agritourism—demonstrating how agriculture sustains our economy, preserves our rural character and provides valuable educational opportunities. We were honored to be joined by Maryland Secretary of Agriculture Kevin Atticks, our county commissioners and many local agricultural partners.

As we head into the holiday season, check out our website for special offers from our local businesses. Be sure to check out the 2025 Holiday Farm Guide to discover unique ways to shop local and celebrate Southern Maryland style.

Thank you for being part of Calvert County’s economic development community. Please reach out anytime—we’re here to support your business and help you thrive.

Happy Holidays!
