The Camp Kawartha Connection - January 2026 | |
Happy New Year!
There's lots to look forward to as we head into 2026. From outdoor education and family programs, to summer camp and leadership opportunities, we have something for everyone. Here's what's happening now, plus a few programs we're especially excited about!
| Camp Kawartha Makes a Global Impact: | |
I am delighted to share that Camp Kawartha’s Pathway to Stewardship and Kinship recently was honoured with global recognition. We received an Outstanding Flagship Project Award from United Nations University as part of the Peterborough Kawartha Haliburton's Regional Centre of Expertise in Sustainability Education, recognizing the Pathway Project as one of the world’s leading community-based sustainability education initiatives. The Pathway supports children and youth through 30 age-linked experiences that nurture connection, care, and action for the Earth. The movement continues to grow through the book The Wild Path Home, co-authored by myself and Cathy Dueck, inspiring communities near and far to work together to raise the stewards of tomorrow.

Volunteers Honoured by the Province
Recently, several members of the Board of Directors were honoured with service pins from the Province of Ontario, by the Minister of Multiculturalism and Citizenship. Among those recognized for 5 years of service last fall in a formal ceremony hosted by the province were Andrew Marshall; Marie Hynes; Brandie Davis; Andrea Gilders; and Liam Churchill. Recognized for 10 years of service was Jason Huffman.
At our January Annual General Meeting framed recognition certificates were presented to accompany the provincial pins.
Congratulations to all of our award recipients and thank you for your dedicated service to the Camp!

Enhancing Accessibility – Transforming Lives
With support from the Government of Ontario’s EASE grant, Camp Kawartha is redesigning the Rotary Hall washrooms to exceed accessibility standards. These universal, dignified spaces will strengthen access to nature-based learning and foster inclusive, intergenerational community connection.
