Cleaning Services in Residence Halls

As a reminder, the cleaning services for townhouse and suite-style housing is once per month. During these monthly cleanings, custodial staff will continue to provide essential services such as bathroom cleaning, trash removal, vacuuming, and the replenishment of toilet paper and trash bags.

Townhouse & suite-style residence halls have been provided with a cleaning schedule. Please talk to your residential staff if you have questions.

Toilet Paper is Available

If you are in need of toilet paper, you are welcome to stop by the Office of Residential Experience, Monday-Friday from 9:00 - 4:30 PM to pick up supplies.

We encourage all roommates/suite mates to work together to clean your townhouses & suites on the weeks when you do not have custodial service. This includes regularly taking out the trash and cleaning your bathrooms. This might also look like purchasing your own toilet paper and garbage/recycling bags and sharing the cost among roommates/suite mates.

Vintage Halls = Vintage Plumbing

With well loved vintage halls comes vintage plumbing. A reminder to please clean your shower and shower drains on a regular basis to ensure drains are not clogged and water buildup does not occur. If you are missing a drain screen or need your drain to be cleared, please submit a work order.

Bug off! Effective ways to keep pests away

With the change in weather comes an increase in pests looking for warmth and food. When it comes to dealing with insects, prevention is always better! Some helpful tips include keeping your kitchen, dining, bathroom, and sleeping rooms clean. This looks like regularly taking out trash, properly storing food, and returning greenboxes to collection containers or Oliver Hall promptly. Make sure to regularly vacuum your floor and clean up any spills. If you have concerns about pests in your space, make sure to submit a work order.

Moisture Mitigation

To mitigate moisture in the halls, please work to keep windows open (as much as possible) and fans running (especially in bathrooms). Residents are also encouraged to not over decorate external walls to decrease moisture buildup.

Campus Housing

As we progress further into the semester, Campus Housing would like to remind all residents about their room occupancy expectations. We are currently in the process of handling room switches and assignments.

If you are residing in a double-occupancy room without a current roommate, or have a vacant space in your room, suite, or townhouse (e.g., an empty single bedroom), please be aware that these spaces may be filled. As such, it’s important that all items remain within your designated area — either on your side of the room or within your assigned rooms (not occupying the whole space if in a double).

To ensure that all vacant spaces are ready for incoming residents, Campus Housing will be conducting regular checks throughout the semester. This will apply whether you are receiving a new roommate or not.

Please note: Failure to keep vacant spaces clear and prepared for new residents will result in additional fines and the potential removal or relocation of items to prepare the space. As stated in the housing agreement:

“The COLLEGE reserves the right to reassign LICENSEE(S) to another space or residence hall, or assign another student to a vacant space in a room/suite/townhouse at any time during the term of this LICENSE for reasons deemed sufficient by the COLLEGE, including but not limited to achieving double or triple occupancy. This right includes, but is not limited to, the COLLEGE’s right to reassign LICENSEE(S) who reside in areas designated for persons with disabilities when the room may be needed for the accommodation of another facility licensee. LICENSEE understands that they do not have exclusive use of the room/suite/townhouse and that their use is non-exclusive.”

Campus Housing will continue to facilitate room switches and placements as necessary throughout the year for various reasons. We always strive to provide ample notice before assigning a new roommate, as a courtesy to all residents.

If you’d like to review information about incoming roommates or suitemates, you can do so by logging into the Housing Portal and navigating to the "Upcoming Roommates/Suitemates" section under "My Information."

Room Change Request Form is Now Live!

and can be accessed in your Housing portal via your MyStMarys

The Room Change Form will open the 3rd week of the semester (Monday, September 8th 2025) and will stop collecting submissions after the 6th week of the semester (Monday, October 6, 2025). Room changes can be processed after week 6, but new submissions will not be received.

Please note once a request is received we need to review what spaces are available, notify potential roommates of an incoming resident, check the space to make sure it's empty and cleaned, etc., so the process can take some time even when there is a space available--please have patience and remember room change request preferences are not guaranteed.

Room change requests must be re-submitted each semester, and campus housing will reach out to students if there is a room offer based on your submission request.

If you were previously on a waitlist for a particular room type this past summer, you will want to submit this form, as the waitlists will be discontinued once the semester has started as we transition to our typical Room Change Request Process.
