Thank You Can-Am RV Customers!
|
|
We have always known that Can-Am RV customers are the best, but this past season has reinforced that sentiment.
There are new challenges running our dealership with new protocols and procedures ensuring the safety of staff and customers. We appreciate how everyone responded with positivity and respect for the changes. We have had a huge surge of interest in the RV lifestyle that has resulted in many families purchasing our products and embarking on entirely new travel adventures. We have had our service team members working long hours with reduced staffing to get new RVs ready for pickup. RV Inventory, Parts and Accessories are a challenge, with many of the manufacturers having reduced capacity because of distancing, parts shortages and of course being shut down for a number of weeks. Through all of this we have found our customers, both new and long term to be understanding, patient and respectful of the new systems and challenges. We also have to thank the dedicated staff at Can-Am RV for going the extra mile for customers and doing whatever is necessary to get folks set up and out on the road.
As we have mentioned in previous articles, this is
Can-Am RV's 50th year in the RV business
. It certainly has been unlike any other year. Many of the ideas and plans for this benchmark occasion have been sidelined as we navigate through the evolution of retail and social restrictions that come our way on a nearly weekly basis. Our anniversary of Can-Am’s Grand Opening fifty years ago, came and went in June. With the frenzy of activity in Sales and Service, any kind of celebration that week could not really happen. Like many families with plans for weddings and family reunions this season, we too are at the "let's wait and see" crossroad at the moment. Our fall rally to celebrate is currently on hold and realistically we don’t see it happening this year as the safety and health of all of you and our staff is the highest priority. Stay tuned and when we have finalized our plans, you will be the first to know. Again, thank you for your ongoing support and patronage. To the many new owners we have met this spring, we welcome you to the Can-Am RV family.

Seven Becomes One Hundred and Twenty Six
By Laura Pollard, Alto 1743 owner.
|
|
This is the story of a simple trailer adventure planned for the winter of 2020 that was hijacked by a nasty virus called Covid 19!
Our travels in our new
Alto 1743
were proceeding as planned and we were having a lovely time exploring Tucson Arizona. That was when news of some new and threatening virus became the talk of the trailer park. We moved farther south and landed in Indio, California in the Coachella Valley of Southern California's Colorado Desert region.
We had no sooner settled in, when on March 20th, the Governor of California shut the state down, and we had to hitch up and head for Canada!
On the road we were very diligent to use gloves for pumping gas and only leave the safety of our Alto to get groceries. Our new destination was to get to the Port Angeles Washington Ferry. This short ferry ride drops you off in Victoria, which was a couple of hundred kilometres from our next reservation at a family run campground in Comox, British Columbia. We had good fortune at this little 62 site, piece of paradise, along the east coast of Vancouver Island. Our hosts not only accepted our reservation but also allowed us to stay in the park until we could travel again.
With the amenities of the park being closed, the dilemma was where to shower? Rather than shower in the Alto we got creative and rigged up an outdoor shower. Yes, these tough Canadian women showered outside in nine degree weather, our comfort being that the trailer produced lots of nice hot water!
During our stay in British Columbia we felt that provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and the government of B.C. handled all of the challenges that the Pandemic presented with excellent leadership and great results.
So now our original seven night reservation has stretched to 126 or 18 weeks at the time of this writing. The current plan is to make my way back to Ontario later this summer in August, leaving the Alto safely stored in Comox for the winter of 2021. For the near future the fun and excitement of planning Alto adventures are on hold as we watch and see how the world deals with this pandemic.
Thank you to Safari Condo for making such a wonderful product that has been our safe haven through all of these challenges this season and it has performed flawlessly. We also would like to thank Can-Am RV in London for providing support and guidance that helped us to get on the road and out into nature! We truly believe that we are healthy and virus free because of all of the fresh air and social distancing that the trailer lifestyle provides.

Art Prints and Gift Cards
This issue we are spotlighting a product that is locally produced, unaffected by international supply chains and has been consistently popular with our customers.
Artstream Studio
Art Prints by local artist Michael Lambert feature images of iconic vintage Airstream trailers in a variety of settings. The original oil paintings have been transferred to prints on archival paper and aluminum and produced in sizes that RV’ers find just right for display in a trailer or motorhome.
You may have seen the larger version of these prints on aluminum in the first floor offices just off the showroom floor. Michael’s paintings have been featured on the covers of Airstream Life magazine and his work has been purchased by Airstream Inc. and by collectors all over the world.
The newest Artstream product is the 8 x 10 inch print on brushed aluminum with a fold out aluminum standing easel attached to allow the artwork to stand on its own or hang on a wall. No framing necessary! This metal substrate allows the texture of the brushed aluminum to show through the painting giving the image a lovely sparkle, just like an Airstream trailer.
This item makes a great gift item and if you are unsure about which of the six images available would be the right choice you can always puchase a Can-Am Gift Card.
Our Gift Cards are available in any amount and have no expiry date so they are great to give for any occasion. Who says you can’t do your Christmas shopping in July!
Drop by the Can Am Parts department to see the wide selection of art prints, gift ideas, RV essentials and repair parts that we have on display.

Can-Am RV Centre has represented the California built Lance travel trailer for quite a few years now and we continue to be impressed with the innovation and quality control evident in the Lance product line. Perhaps it is the California location; known as the most demanding state for building safe and environmentally friendly products. The Lance factory is a huge 141,000 sqare foot facility on a 22 acre site. Lance has a commitment to continually improving their product and they rely on their dealer network as well as customers, for product reviews and feedback.
The 2020 product line has a very attractive new Driftwood decor on select models there are a number of excellent new floor plans available this year. The
2075
features a rear U-shaped dinette non-slide floorplan with unique rear exterior slide-out kitchen and fantastic Lance “Stargazer” opening front window. The
2445
is a single slide bunk model featuring double-sized bunks, garage storage, and residential sized bathroom and walk-in closet. The exterior colours and graphics have also been refreshed and our Can-Am RV customers had rave reviews at the Fall and Winter RV shows. We would love to show you the Lance family of fine travel trailers in person so please drop by our showroom to see what the excitement is all about.

Destination Review
: Driveway
Provincial Park
|
|
In the May issue of the Can-Am RV Newsletter I wrote about the concept of
Driveway Provincial Park
as a Covid 19 Era destination. This time out I thought I would share our experience of driveway camping last month at a friend's property.
Just like all of our fellow RV'ers, in early June we were itching to get out in our trailer but all the campgrounds were still closed. With perfect timing, our friends invited us to bring our little trailer and stay in their back yard for a couple of days out in the Stratford area. So we hitched up our 1963 Airstream Bambi and
Mustang Convertible
and hit the road. Our "campsite" in our friends backyard was right beside a little creek and surrounded by trees. They even ran electric and water to our rig! We had a great socially distanced visit, a campfire, and a chance to use our little gem of an Airstream.
The 1963 Bambi is a complete restoration that I completed a little over a year ago and the custom hitch work on the V6 Mustang was done by the experts in the Can-Am RV service department. It is an awesome combination and tows perfectly like there is nothing behind you at all. Can-Am has done several set ups for us over the years, some on classic cars, and there is great sense of security knowing the
"Towing Specialists"
have dialled in my hitch set up for optimum performance.
Our short camping trip was a blast and we managed to hustle home and into the garage right before a fairly substantial storm blew through our town. Thanks to our hosts at "Driveway Provincial Park" and also to Can-Am RV for the awesome set-up.
