The Choices We Make

Napa Valley CanDo seeks to inspire and facilitate action  by alerting interested Valley residents about opportunities for service. If you participate as a volunteer in an activity that you learned about through Napa Valley CanDo, whether initiated by CanDo or another organization, please take personal responsibility for your involvement. Use common sense. Only you can determine whether an activity is a good fit, that is to say  compatible with your interests and abilities.

TWO  MORE  STORIES  FROM  CanDo's
MOST  RECENT  GREEN  BAG  DAY  IN  NAPA

For Many CanDoers, Volunteering is a Family Affair.

Kristen Metson is a Neighborhood Coordinator for our Napa Food Project. Her sister, Ursula, is a Food Donor, and because service to others is clearly a family value, Kristin's middle school daughters came to volunteer at the Food Bank this month. They helped collect over 13,000 pounds of non-perishable food for neighbors in need.

Given that family history, it should be no surprise that when Kristin's sister, Erica, visited from Ohio in October, she joined Kristen during her pickup/drop off. Erica was inspired!

She returned  home to Ohio and immediately started working on creating the Cincinnati East Side Neighborhood Food Project. Kristen told us, "Erica does a fair amount of  other volunteering there and her community jumped right in. They gathered over 830 pounds during the first pickup the other day!"

Kristin speaks for many of us when she says, "One thing I love about CanDo's Food Project is that it's a very easy and manageable way to give back without a huge time investment. It feels so nice to have your efforts inspire others to do the same!"

Napa Moms Dive In
Our thanks to the Napa Moms who organized a small "pop-up neighborhood" for our February green bag day for the Napa Food Bank. Even though the donations weren't necessarily in green  bags, we are  proudly color-blind when it comes to helping everyone in our communities thrive. Learn more about Napa Moms here.

CanDo's next Neighborhood Coordinator Orientation will be held in Napa on Tuesday, March 17, 6-7:30PM. Come see how simple and how inspiring it CanBe to make a difference!  Email us.
