Veterans Day: Honoring All Who Served
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Veterans Day to honor those who have served in the Armed Forces throughout our nation's history. In a special letter to our veterans, Capitol Technology University Director of Graduate Programs, Chris Urdzik, MAS, Lt Col, USAF (ret) expressed our nation’s
gratitude for the unwavering dedication, hard work, and sacrifices
made by those who have selflessly served in the military.

Maryland STEM Challenge
On November 2, in collaboration with the MD STEM Challenge, Capitol Tech hosted several engaging activities on our campus for students from middle through high school age to discover STEM topics through challenges and competitions.
Over 150 students joined us from local schools for this day of fun and innovation!
We look forward to our next STEM Challenge Day in the spring.

Capitol Tech at InCyber Forum Canada
As part of our commitment to cybersecurity awareness, Capitol Tech participated in several events last month, including the InCyber Forum hosted in Montreal, Canada. President Sims and Dr. Bill Butler, VP of Cyber Science Outreach and Partnerships, as well as members of our Center for Women in Cyber, Dr. Diane M. Janosek and Sumona Banerji, attended the event in support of cybersecurity education.

Capitol Tech Students Meet with MD Lt. Govenor
Professors Jeff Volosin, Director of Astronautical and Space Engineering and Frank Turney, Department Chair of Aviation, as well as five of our students were invited to attend a roundtable discussion with Maryland Lt. Governor Aruna Miller during the Maryland Aerospace Industry and Education Roundtable held on October 23. Our students had an opportunity to speak with Maryland's government and aerospace industry leaders to discuss their experiences and challenges in trying to
enter the aerospace workforce.

Professor Jeff Volosin's "Explorer Program History" Series
Director and Professor of Astronautical and Space Engineering, Jeff Volosin, will be offering an "Explorer Program History" lecture series starting Friday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in our campus auditorium. This event is open to the public and those interested in learning more about the evolution of space exploration over the years. Our ASE program is also offering several other events for our community to
get involved in space science, so stay tuned!

Forbes Featured Article with Capitol Tech Adjunct Professor
Capitol Tech Adjunct Professor and Dissertation Chair, Dr. Ilia Kolochenko, was featured in a Forbes interview on the topic of international cybercrime. According to Forbes, the U.S. Secret Service placed a large bounty on a suspected hacker believed to be responsible for a decades-long malware software scam. Dr. Kolochenko, noted expert in cybersecurity and cyber law, offers his opinion on the usefulness of bounties in these types of complex cases.

In Memoriam of Dr. Dick Baker: A Leader in Aviation Education
It is with profound sadness that we announce
the loss of Doctoral Chair, Richard (Dick) Baker. Dr. Baker showed immense dedication to our university and a strong commitment to the success of his students, taking joy in his work and their achievements. Dr. Baker was a veteran and retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, a member of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Center of Excellence for Unmanned Aerial Systems Research, and a noted aviation expert whose lasting legacy will be remembered always.
