4TH GRADE CELEBRATES HISTORY DAY! PHOTO CREDIT: MRS. STOCKTON
Dear Friends of Saint Bernadette Catholic School,
Jog-a-thon
Tomorrow is the Jog-a-thon! We hope this will be a very fun event for our students and families. As of this writing, we are up to $38,500! Wow! Thank you for your generosity! Pray for good weather tomorrow afternoon!
Student attire for tomorrow: Jog-a-thon t-shirt coming home today, and gym uniform shorts. If it is cool, students should wear their gym uniform sweats and sweatshirt. Students may wear non-uniform running shoes.
Parking: Please park in the lot below the church and walk up. The upper lot will be closed.
Locations: If the grass on the field is too wet, we will make two courses on the upper lot, with the older students in the back circle and the younger in an "L" shaped track in the parking area.
Time: We have made slight adjustments to the times, please note changes below:
| |
Time | Grades on Field OR Back Circle (if wet) | Grades in Back Circle OR "L" Track (if wet) | 1:10 | 4-5 | 2-3 | 1:40 | 6-7 | K-1 | 2:10 | 8 | PK
Please join us: All are welcome to participate in the Jog-a-thon tomorrow or to cheer on the students as a spectator.
Dismissal: As a reminder, there will be NO CARPOOL tomorrow. Students will be dismissed from the homeroom classrooms. This also gives you a chance to walk through the school and to say "Thank you" to your child's teacher.
-
If you intend to take your child home early, after their run, please email your child's homeroom teacher TODAY so the teacher can have the child's backpack ready and outside. Make sure to touch base with your child's teacher BEFORE taking your child home.
-
If another family will be taking your child home, email the other family's name to the homeroom teacher TODAY.
Thank you for your help in getting all of our students out the door and home safely!
Holy Week
Next week is Holy Week, and we look forward to watching our 5th graders teach us about the Last Supper, viewing the living Stations of the Cross, and participating in classroom retreat activities on Holy Thursday. If your family collected money in the Rice Bowl, please send it next Tuesday. The church would much prefer that you write a check for the total amount. Save the change because our NJHS is organizing a "penny war" to support Ukrainian refugees following Easter break.
As a reminder, school will dismiss at 11:30 am on Holy Thursday. There is NO Extended Day on the afternoon of Thursday, April 12.
Holy Week presents families with many teachable moments. From the Mass of the Last Supper to the reading of the Passion, the liturgies are incredibly powerful and moving, and you are encouraged to involve your children in preparing for the Joy of Easter.
The Saint Bernadette Parish schedule for Holy Week and Easter is as follows:
HOLY THURSDAY
8am Morning Prayer/Office of Readings
7:30pm MASS OF THE LORD'S SUPPER Procession to gym, adoration until midnight
GOOD FRIDAY
Day of fasting and abstinence

We hope to see lots of Moms and Dads at the Jog-a-thon tomorrow!

Volunteer Requirements
Compliant volunteers will be allowed in the building on April 1st. Volunteers need to be fully compliant. Please get in touch with Mrs. Zoraida Conde for additional information.
For former volunteers, you will need to read the 2022 updated Code of Conduct and electronically sign the acknowledgement form that you have read it. Mrs. Conde has sent an email earlier this month with the new Code of Conduct form to previously compliant parents. New volunteers should get in touch with Mrs. Conde to get the form. (new!) Please do not use the form in the previous Cardinal Connection as it is the wrong version.
In addition, it is a Diocesan requirement that all volunteers submit a TB test/screening taken within a year of April 1st or the day first day you volunteer. The TB test should be submitted to Mrs. Koucheravy, our school nurse.
Please email Ms. Teresa Carandang if you need to know if you are compliant and allowed to volunteer.
