Grab your lightsabers! "May the 4th Be With You" returns to Carrollton's Historic Downtown Square with a FREE celebration full of galactic fun featuring a gaming trailer, space-themed crafts, a 360 photo booth, and a showing of the movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), PG-13.

Last Chance to Register to Vote in City General Election

The City of Carrollton will hold a General Election and Special Charter Election on Sat., May 4 to elect Council places 1, 3, 5, and 7 and to consider proposed changes to the City Charter. To vote in the May 4 election, you must have registered to vote by April 4. For more information, visit the link below.

The DEA reports that non-medical use of prescription drugs ranks as the second most common form of drug abuse in America. Minimize the risk for drug abuse and drop off unwanted or expired prescription drugs in support of the DEA's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Sat., April 27 at the Carrollton Police Station. There will be no questions or requests for identification.

Registration for solar eclipse glasses is full, but there will be a limited supply of solar viewers available for walk-ups on the day of the event.

Learn to love the planet at Carrollton's Earth Day Celebration at Josey Ranch Lake Library on Sat., April 20. Explore all nature has to offer with free Pocket Prairie tours, a special Earth Day-themed story time, touch-a-truck with Republic Services, and more.


Attendees can also vote on the winners of the Recycle Art Contest and participate in a native ladybug release.

Transform recyclable materials into masterpieces for the City's annual Recycle Art Contest. This year's theme is the flora and fauna of Carrollton.

 

Students K-12th grade enrolled in any Carrollton school, plus those in private school or homeschool who reside in Carrollton, can participate. Register by Fri., April 12. Bring registered entries to the Earth Day Celebration.

Boatwright House Historical Marker Unveiling


Built around 1900, the Boatwright House, also known as the Vintage House or the Pink House, is the oldest standing structure in Carrollton. The historic building will receive a historical designation marker tomorrow, Sat., March 30. Join Mayor and Council in an unveiling ceremony to celebrate the occasion.

Bulk Waste Collection


Doing some spring cleaning? Be sure to follow the City of Carrollton's bulk item collection ordinance:


  • Brush and bulk waste is collected weekly on residents' regular collection day at the street curb in front of the home, not the alley.
  • Refrain from setting bulk items at the curb outside of designated collection hours (no earlier than 6 p.m. of the evening before and no later than 6:30 a.m. of the collection day). Early placement may incur a fine and late placement may result in a missed pickup.

TxDOT will be temporarily closing W. Main St. between S. Broadway St. and 4th Ave. in Downtown Carrollton beginning Wed., April 3 as part of the I-35E Phase 2 project. The work is expected to be completed by May.
