Hi Selwyn,
We invite you to experience Chef Selwyn Taste in "Little Jamaica" on June 25th and 26th. The Art of Catering has partnered with the Durham Caribbean Festival to present Chef Selwyn Taste, a tantalizing two-day food festival extravaganza.

The initiative is to give back to our community. We are not just talking about it - we have created an event to effect change. For the past number of years, a lot of businesses have died or they are on life support in Little Jamaica. While Metrolinx will improve traffic flow and modernize the community, it comes at a high cost to many. While Randy's has closed permanently, a new kid has been born across the street - "Reidies Patties". How can we help this new enterprise to strive and flourish, growing into nostalgia for the next generation?
Why, you ask? Because in 1980 when I migrated to Canada, I saw a reflection of myself in Little Jamaica and it gave me hope. Now, here I am.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 - Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Wishing you God's richest blessings, I encourage you to pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. May the good Lord keep and prosper you in good health and wealth.

I love salads for lunch or dinner almost any day of the week, but especially in the summer when it’s just too hot to cook. Salads are very versatile and healthy. You can easily customize them to adjust to your family’s taste and of course they are quick and easy to throw together. Here’s how you turn this side dish into a filling meal.
• Caesar Salad – Chop romaine lettuce; top it with croutons, parmesan cheese, Caesar dressing and any of the following: grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, smoked or cooked salmon or any other cooked fish you have handy.
| |
|
• Pasta Salad – Make your favorite pasta salad and add cooked chicken or diced ham to it. Simply combine noodles and fresh chopped veggies with Italian dressing and let it sit for an hour. That’s how easy pasta salad is to make.
• Chef Salad – Start with lettuce, then add carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, sliced hard boiled eggs, ham and turkey and grated cheese. Top with your favorite salad dressing.
| |
|
• Mediterranean Salad – combine dark leafy lettuce with baby spinach. Top with diced tomatoes, olives, drained chickpeas, and crumbled feta cheese. Serve with a vinaigrette or Italian dressing and some toasted pita bread on the side.
• Potato Salad – make your favorite potato salad and add some chopped ham, cooked kielbasa type sausage or sliced hot dogs.

Congratulations on your successful evening. We are proud of you and we were so glad you were there.
A million thank you's.
Sending lots of love to you and your team.

Plump Up Limp Vegetables!
Give limp vegetables a second chance by soaking them in ice water to make them crisp after prolonged refrigeration. This is a great technique for lettuce and celery, which seem to go limp fastest. This trick also works for limp herbs.

Don't Get Stuck With The Injury Bill!
Did you know that you could be responsible for a workplace injury if a worker doing work in or around your home were injured?
|
Yes, it's absolutely true.
When you hire a contractor to do work you need to be asking more questions and asking to see copies of workers compensation insurance and you'll want to see general liability insurance to know that they can cover unforeseen damages.
I get amused when I have asked the question about workers compensation when looking to hire a contractor. Often I get the response "no one has ever asked me for that before".
