Dear Cathedral ‘Ohana,
We promised to be in touch with the plan for the rest of January’s Sundays. With the exponential climb in cases, the high rate of transmission, and the extreme contagion of the Omicron variant, we have made the decision to stay in a virtual format for our Sunday 8:00am and 10:00am* worship through the month of January. We are closely monitoring this COVID-surge and prayerfully considering and exploring our options moving forward, including what we may be able to do with our outside spaces. Our current plan is to be back in-person together, and online, too, on Sunday, February 2, 8:00am and 10:00am.
Our current COVID-reality has also impacted our plans for the Annual Meeting and for the worship schedule on Sunday,
January 23. Desiring to keep our gathered numbers low and our time together abbreviated, our Annual Meeting will be held over Zoom, at 10:00am, on Sunday, January 23. The time of the meeting has been adjusted to 10:00am (rather than the previously announced 9:00am.) This change in time provides those participating in the live-streaming of the 8:00am liturgy (choir, clergy, lectors, AV tech) time to get home to engage in the Annual Meeting Zoom. The 10am Liturgy of the Word will be suspended for January 23rd in order to hold the Annual Meeting.
I came across this prayer from an Anglican church in Ewloe, UK. It resonated with me, and has made its way into my ʻdailies,’ and I offer it to you as we navigate and nimble-our-way through this “challenging time.”
Strength for this Challenging Time
We pray for your love and compassion to abound
as we walk through this challenging season.
We ask for wisdom for those who bear the load
of making decisions with widespread consequences.
We pray for those who are suffering with sickness
and all who are caring for them.
We ask for protection for the elderly and vulnerable
to not succumb to the risks of the virus.
We pray for misinformation to be curbed
that fear may take no hold in hearts and minds.
As we exercise the good sense that you in your mercy provide,
may we also approach each day in faith and peace,
trusting in the truth of your goodness towards us.
We are heartened by your perseverance, and so very grateful for your continued grace and support. Be well, mask up, stay safe!
In Christ,
Heather
*The Sunday 7am Rite I Eucharist will continue on its hiatus until we are able to return to in-person worship. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
