Back to school!

It seems hard to believe but we’re already in back to school season. If the pastor at your parish or principal at your Catholic school is not familiar with Catholic Scouting, reach out and let them know about all the great resources available! Remind them about the more than 50 Religious Activities posted online for anyone to use. Tell them about the in-depth Religious Emblem programs for Catholic Scouts to earn and grow in their faith. Let them know how Catholic Scouting is supporting the National Eucharistic Revival and ask how your Scouts can help out locally.

Access tools to market Catholic Scouting

Whether you're a local unit leader or a diocesan/ eparchial committee member, we all have our part to play in sharing the word about Catholic Scouting. Many Catholic families aren’t aware of the special resources available to support young people in growing in their faith, while engaging in all the fun Scouting has to offer! Check out marketing resources, from fillable flyers to parish bulletin copy templates to social media graphics – with some resources in Spanish – posted in the Catholic Scouting Marketing Kit on NCCS-BSA.org.

Encourage promising teens to participate in the 2024 St. George Trek

Every two years NCCS organizes the St. George Trek, aimed at teens discerning their vocation. Our next Trek is July 3-18, 2024. In case you’re not familiar with it, the St. George Trek brings Catholic high-school-aged Scouts from around the country together for a 16-day adventure, including 11 days of backpacking in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. The Trek is led by the teens themselves and accompanied by priests, seminarians, and other Religious, giving teen participants the opportunity to experience the sacraments and the Church’s life of prayer as they explore the majesty of God’s creation – and their vocation. Deadline for the early registration incentive is October 31! Learn more about the St. George Trek.

Catholic Scouting Spotlight

In future editions of the Catholic Scouting Wire, we’ll include a spotlight on a unit or diocesan/eparchial committee engaged in a unique and successful activity or program that could be implemented by other Catholic Scouting units or diocesan/eparchial committees. Have a Catholic Scouting activity or program you’d like to put a spotlight on? Submit it to info@nccs-bsa.org and be sure to include Catholic Scouting Spotlight in the subject line. Send us pictures too!
