St. Martin of Tours'

Food Pantry &

Mass of Thanksgiving

St. Martin of Tours Parish in Troy recently opened a food pantry and held its second food distribution Oct. 31 at the parish! Along with celebrating a Mass of Thanksgiving for those in the Dothan Deanery on Oct. 30, Archbishop Mark S. Rivituso lent a hand at the food distribution as did Troy University students and parishioners. With this having been Halloween, the children made pastor Fr. Chris Boutin a “Pope of Pike County” mitre! Thanks be to God for the work being done in this area!

Apostleship of the Sea

The Catholic Maritime Ministry of Mobile, Stella Maris, celebrated its 80th anniversary Oct. 25. The celebration began with Mass at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception celebrated by Archbishop Mark S. Rivituso and concelebrated by Bishop Frank Schuster, auxiliary bishop of Seattle and Bishop Promoter of Stella Maris in the United States.

Couples take part in annual Toy Bowl

Couples from Catholic schools in Mobile and Baldwin counties took part in the 77th Toy Bowl and raised funds for CYO activities.

Leading the way in the fundraising activities for the support of CYO activities were Toy Bowl Queen Genevieve Marie Lancaster and King Joaquin Sanchez of St. Mary Catholic School. Other court members included First Lady to the Queen Olivia Synclair McLemore of St. Dominic Catholic School; Second Lady to the Queen Elizabeth Grey McLean of Christ the King Catholic School; and Third Lady to the Queen Raemy Marie Perryman of St. Mary Catholic School.

All Souls' Mass

Archbishop Mark S. Rivituso celebrated Mass Nov. 1 at the Catholic Cemetery of Mobile to commemorate All Souls' Day. Those who had loved one buried in the cemetery over the past year received a white rose. Following Mass, Archbishop Rivituso also placed roses on the gravesites of priests buried at the cemetery. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Leaving behind a legacy of

faith and pride

After more than four decades at McGill-Toolen Catholic High School — including 36 years as president — Fr. Bry Shields said he feels “a great sense of relief but also peace,” knowing the time is right to step down as the school’s president.
