Daughters of Charity to be recognized during Mass, reception Feb. 9 before leaving Mobile

Whether it was in hospitals, schools, parishes, orphanages, elderly homes or anywhere else they were in need, the Daughters of Charity were here to serve the people of Alabama.

Their all-important ministry, which began in 1841, is coming to an end within the Archdiocese of Mobile as the three remaining Daughters of Charity in Mobile have been called to withdraw from ministries and will

relocate elsewhere.

Fr. Joseph Bolling, longtime pastor of St. Matthew Parish, passes away

Fr. Joseph Michael Bolling, affectionately known as “Fr. Joe,” truly loved his

St. Matthew Parish home and the people of St. Matthew Parish loved him so.

Fr. Bolling was baptized at St. Matthew Parish in Mobile, graduated from the parish school and served at the parish for more than 30 years before passing away on Jan. 18 at the age of 81.

62nd annual Mobile/Baldwin Catholic Schools Spelling Bee

Congratulations to all who participated in the 62nd annual Mobile/Baldwin Catholic Schools Spelling Bee on Jan. 28 at St. Pius X Parish, especially champion Brendan Schott of Christ the King Catholic School. Brendan, a CTK seventh-grader captured his second consecutive spelling bee title after successfully spelling ‘Bandicoot.' Brendan earned a spot in the state finals on March 22 in Birmingham!
