Dear SJS families,

We found out last week that one of our Diocese of Covington schools, St. Henry Elementary, lost a very special faculty member.
The second grade teacher, Carrie Williams, died suddenly last Tuesday. She leaves behind a seven week old son Issac and her husband Adam, who is also a teacher at St. Henry Elementary.
We have been praying for her family and also the St. Henry Family. The SJS faculty has been planning a few things in order to support both her family, the St. Henry students and also the faculty/staff of St. Henry. We would like to have an out of uniform day on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23. Students and teachers can be out of uniform and if they bring in a dollar or more and WEAR RED. (St. Henry school color)
We will be using this money to purchase baby items for the Williams family.
In this time of grief, let us support our friends of St. Henry Elementary School.

Sally Zeck
PLEASE make sure that your children have masks. They are required this week. We suggest students keep an extra mask in their backpack.

We are happy to announce that we will be adding Snappy Tomato to our SJS restaurant nights. Our first one will be on November 22nd. Starting on December 21st, our Snappy Tomato Nights will be the 3rd Tuesday of the month." Please click the flyer below to better view or print it.

Guthrie's is the first Tuesday
of each month.

Skyline is the second Tuesday

The Christmas Shop (formerly Santa Shop) presented by the 8th grade class is back this year! It will be held during school hours on Wednesday-Friday, 12/1-12/3.  Each class will have a shopping time for students to select gifts for their loved ones. All items will be priced at $5 or less. There will also be a candy cane pull for out of uniform passes. A shopping list reminder will be sent home with students on 11/29.
A huge thank you to all the 40+ families that contributed to the Cavalier Call Trick or Treat event! With your help, we were able to gather over $4K in donations, which included gift cards, wine and liquor to support the Cav Call auction. As a thank you, any family that donated to the Halloween event will have an out of uniform day on Monday, November 22nd.
If you didn't get a chance to donate, there is still time! Just send your gift card donation to school on the 22nd, and your child(ren) can be out of uniform! We appreciate your generous donations to make this year's Cav Call the most successful yet.

The Christmas Holidays are approaching quickly and once again we would like to ask your help in showing our appreciation to all the teachers and staff at St. Joseph School. We are counting on your generosity in making a donation toward Christmas gifts. The money collected from all families will be divided and used to purchase gift certificates for each teacher including teacher aides, special teachers and other staff.
We hope that this will save you the time and energy normally spent in purchasing individual gifts. In the past some children did still give their homeroom teacher a small gift; however, this is not really necessary, as the teachers do understand that their "wish list" gift is made possible through the generosity of their students and students' families.
While we do not want to ask for a specific amount from each family, we suggest that you consider the amount you might normally spend as a family in purchasing teachers' gifts.

You can send payment via Venmo "Teacher Christmas" to
@SJS-PTO, or send cash or
a check made payable to
St. Joseph PTO in an envelope marked "Teachers".

Your child may send the envelope to the office in his/her homeroom's message envelope. We ask that all contributions be turned in by December 7 so that our committee will have time to coordinate the gifts.

We thank you in advance
for your generosity.

Sincerely, PTO Christmas
Gift Committee
Please know that if you have an appointment for your child during the school day, it is VERY important for you to email ALL of their teachers and the OFFICE. (Mrs. Horstkamp and Mrs. Barbian).

If you can make the appointment for early in the morning or late in the afternoon, please do so. This is less disruptive for everyone. We know that sometimes it is hard to get appointments after school. You can bring your child back to school after an appointment, but it is important to make that clear in your email to the teachers, and Mrs. Horstkamp and Mrs. Barbian.

Our SJS Fifth Graders
will be collecting toys as a part of their Service Learning Project. This collection benefits the children of Campton in Eastern Kentucky, one of the poorest areas in our state. The Church of the Good Shepherd will sort and distribute the toys to the local families in need.

We ask that NEW toys be brought to school from Nov. 12 - 19. The donations can be placed in boxes in front of the school office anytime that week.

Some suggestions for toys are : craft supplies, sports equipment, dolls, cars, Legos, games, etc. You may shop at any store of your choice or use the following suggestions:
