TOY COLLECTION

Once again, 4th grade will be organizing a toy collection for The Good Shepherd Mission in Appalachia. Laura and Dave Arlinghaus will graciously deliver the toys for us. This year the mission requested new or gently used books as well as toys. As always, new toys are appreciated, but a gently used toy is acceptable. We will be collecting the toys at the November 14 Mass.

RED
RIBBON WEEK

DID YOU KNOW?
Children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don't; yet, only a quarter of teens report having these conversations (Red Ribbon Campaign). Please take the time to read the attachment in order to know how to have these conversations with your child from age 2-18.
MUM PARTY
WITH MS. ZECK

Those families who earned the mum party with Mr. Zeck , LaRosa's pizza will be served. These students will eat pizza with Ms. Zeck and have fun with silly string. Feel free to pack a lunch if your child does not like LaRosa's pizza.
HANDBOOK POLICY

Unexcused Absences

Please check the SJS Handbook on pages 7-8 if you are planning to take your students out of school.
The handbook clearly states:
"Unexcused absences include those due to vacations, attendance at social events, athletic contests, etc.
NO assignments will be given in advance."
Students will receive the work when he/she gets back. Teachers are not sure how much material they will get through on any given day and so your child will get the work when he/she returns to school.
