SCHOOL NEWS

PET BLESSING

We will have our Pet Blessing in honor of St. Francis on Friday, October 14th at 7:30 am. This will be held in the front parking lot by church. ALL SJS students will meet  parents in the parking lot and return to school after the blessing. Pets may be brought on leashes or in cages. Students can  bring a photo of their pet if the pet can't make it.

MATH COUNTS

Coach Mark Engleman will start Math Counts today, Oct 6th 6:30-8pm and weekly after that for any interested 6, 7, 8th grader. It is very informal and we understand some kids cannot make every meeting.

There is an opportunity for anyone to participate in a regional competition/test which is one evening in Jan/Feb (last year at NKU) for $20 fee. Last year SJS qualified for state and were able to send 4 students to WKU in March. SJS did not advance to nationals, but it was very exciting to be a part of and see many engineers in the state lend their time to further their field and build excitement for the kids around learning math.

The Math Counts Program is really unique and has lots of information on their website:

Food Collection

The Rose Garden Mission in Covington is in need of food to distribute from their food pantry. Sources of protein are especially needed. The Franciscan Daughters of Mary are asking for donations of non-perishable food items with high protein content such as canned chili, stew, tuna, chicken, etc. Donated items for the collection can be left in the vestibule at each of the church entrances this weekend and all week including the weekend of Oct 7-8. Cash donations can also be placed in the collection basket in envelopes clearly marked Rose Garden Mission.
