Hello everybody!
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for you and for the gift of our parish community. Each day, I am humbled by the faith, generosity, and kindness I see in you—whether in worship, in service, or in your care for one another. In a world that often feels hurried and divided, your witness to Christ’s love is a source of great hope. I hope you are able to join me for our Mass on Thanksgiving Day at 10:00 a.m. as a way to give thanks to God for his blessings. Please know of my prayers for you and your families this Thanksgiving. May God fill your homes with peace, joy, and the warmth of His presence.
This weekend will also be the beginning of Advent. God offers each of us a new start. We will begin a new prayer challenge for Advent on Hallow called Advent Pray25: Be Still. It’s an opportunity to discover some deeper stillness amid the busyness and chaos of the holiday season. Please see below, as well, for our many Advent offerings in our community. May this Advent be a time of encountering Jesus as we prepare and wait for the celebration of his Nativity.
Nationally, next Tuesday for 24 hours is known as Giving Tuesday. A way for Catholics to participate is through #iGiveCatholic. In our community, we are participating for the first time this year with the goal to fix our organ. Thank you to those who have already participated in the advanced giving. We have already raised over $5,000 toward our $32,000 goal. I am excited to see what happens on Tuesday!
Finally, please say a prayer for the pastoral planning process in the Archdiocese of Louisville. After the initial data collection phase, we are now in a discernment phase for local parish communities to review the data for each deanery and make recommendations in January for possible structural changes in how many parishes we have or how they are organized. Our Pastoral Council will be providing input for this important process in our local church. May the wisdom of the Holy Spirit guide our discernment.
May your Thanksgiving be happy and blessed!
Peace,
Fr. Jeff
