Hello everybody!
Happy Advent! We have entered the season of preparation and anticipation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus. Amidst our busy season of Christmas parties and shopping, I hope you can pause, reflect, and find some time to open your spirit to the silent, holy night, where all is calm and all is bright. The Prince of Peace comes!
Congratulations to our youth and their families who received the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was a beautiful celebration and Archbishop Shelton reminded all of us that the gift of the Holy Spirit is in response to our faith and trust in God. May the life of the Spirit flourish in each of us and within our whole community. I am excited for the number of our students who have been trained as extraordinary ministers of holy communion and, now as confirmed members of the Church, will begin serving in this ministry. Congratulations to all, once again!
On Friday, we will have masses for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary at noon and at 7:00 p.m. At all the masses this coming weekend, we will offer the Blessing of the Child in the Womb for expectant mothers and families. Next Wednesday, December 13, we will have our first additional Advent opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Church. May these events and each of our Advent journeys help to prepare us to welcome Jesus into our hearts, lives, and world.
O come, O come, Emmanuel!
Peace,
Fr. Jeff
