Hello everybody!
Happy Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, and Mardi Gras! Tomorrow begins our Lenten journey this year with Ash Wednesday and the distribution of ashes at the 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Masses. Our Family Retreat with Dr. Italy has been fantastic and concludes tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the church. If you’ve missed it, you can watch the first two sessions on our YouTube channel
We are in the first year of a three year Eucharistic Revival and, as part of that process, I gave a presentation on Going Deeper into the Mystery of the Eucharist. It is the first of two presentations and focuses on the celebration of the Liturgy of the Word at mass. You can watch it HERE.
Please consider joining with the parishes of our region for an evening with Archbishop Shelton on March 1 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. This will be an evening exploring Open Wide Our Hearts: The Enduring Call to Love—A Pastoral Letter Against Racism and will be from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The evening will cover the spirit behind the document, the reality today, and the hope for the future.
Myself and our Parish Operations Team (Carrie Williamson, Pastoral Associate and fixer of everything, Dr. Nathan Sturtzel, Principal, and Dave Naber, Business Manager) are heading out on Thursday to the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress. It is the largest annual religious education conference in the country with a host of presenters and workshops. Please pray for us as we take this opportunity to hone our craft, learn, and grow in our relationships with God and each other. Thanks!
May the next 40 days of Lent bring you closer to God and prepare us all to celebrate the great joy of Easter.
Peace,
Fr. Jeff
