MESSAGE FROM FR. JEFF

Hello everybody!

Holy Week is fast approaching with the celebration this weekend of Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion. I do encourage you to wear something red for mass this weekend as we move from Jesus’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem to his death on the cross. We extend our contemplation of Jesus’s passion over the course of the week. We enter into his suffering so as to also enter his resurrection. It is in the darkest moments that hope is enkindled. In the darkness, we, as followers of Jesus, always remember that Sunday is coming. Light has pierced the darkness. Life has overcome death. Jesus is risen. We must walk through the darkness, the valley of the shadow of death, to reach the light. May we all mark this Holy Week in a special way to journey with Jesus from death to newness of life.

The day of resurrection, Easter Sunday, is our commitment weekend for the increased offertory program. May our own sacrifices and offerings be blessed by God to be a sign of new life for our community and all those whom we serve. Thank your generous response. Please bring your commitment card to submit at the Easter Sunday Masses, April 20, or there is also an online option. I will take this weekend, myself, to further discern my ability to increase my personal offering and my commitment to do so. I was able to increase my giving last year by 20% and will see what additionally God is calling me to do at this time. Thank you for your prayer and discernment as you step out in faith.

God is with us on the journey. May your Holy Week be a time of encounter with Jesus, who is the resurrection and the life.

Peace,

Fr. Jeff
