Hello everybody!
We have a pope! Habemus Papam! Pope Leo XIV was elected during the conclave last week. Like many, I was surprised by the election of an American pope. Against the predominant conventual wisdom, I believe his election is a sign of the grace of the Holy Spirit and that God is a God of surprises. Reflecting on the announcement, I think it is also extremely significant that, as Catholics, our greatest enthusiasm and the loudest cheer from the crowd gathered at St. Peter’s Basilica was before we even knew who the pope was, just that we had a pope. God does not abandon his church, but continues to be with us always. Thanks be to God!
Please keep our eighth grade students and their families in prayer. Tomorrow, Wednesday, is their graduation. It is a culmination of each journey and a new beginning for the journey ahead. I am grateful for all the efforts and sacrifice that goes into the formation and education of each student. We are a community of disciples of Jesus and I am proud of the accomplishments of each of our students and, indeed, of our entire community. May they Go with God!
Below is information about nominations for our Pastoral Council and School Board. Please prayerfully consider nominating someone who may be called to serve in leadership for our community. Thanks!
Finally, my heartfelt congratulation to Tammy Kessler, our Director of Adult Formation and Initiation, for her graduation on Saturday from the Saint Meinrad School of Theology. She truly earned her Masters Degree in Theology and I am very proud of the significant effort and sacrifice she has made to better serve God’s people. Well done, Tammy!
God bless us all!
Peace,
Fr. Jeff
