MESSAGE FROM FR. JEFF

Hello everybody!

This coming weekend we will celebrate Pentecost, sometimes known as the birth of the Church, and, at least just this one time each year, I encourage you to wear red for the masses. We will select the new members of our School Board and Pastoral Council at the 11:00 a.m. mass. We will also be having our local collection for the Crusade for Children this weekend. In addition, the Knights of Columbus will be collecting old American flags for proper retirement. Please see below, as well, to sign up as a volunteer for our Vacation Bible School.

We will soon bid farewell to Fr. Quan as he transitions to his new assignment and mission at St. James in Elizabethtown. His last weekend with our community will be May 25/26 and we will have hospitality after all the masses. Just this week, he began moving some of his belongings and we will miss his joyful and peaceful presence and the many contributions he has made in ministry to our community. At the beginning of June, Fr. Quan returns home to Vietnam for a three week visit before beginning his new assignment. Please pray for him and offer words of gratitude to him as he prepares to depart. We will have a box at the welcome desk for cards, as well. May he go with God!

With the increasing traffic for the PGA Championship, please plan accordingly this week. May the peace of Christ dwell in your hearts. Come, Holy Spirit, come!

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

Delaney Hildreth, Worship Media Assistant

What is something people do not know about you?

When I was in middle school and high school I used to write ten minute plays that would then be produced and performed at the theatre where I took the playwriting classes. Those plays were very formative in my creative life and in my love for the arts. Then in college I flipped over to screenwriting--similar in format on the page but completely different in production. Now, one year out of college, I definitely write more screenplays than I do stage plays, but I still love to read and watch plays when I get the chance. To me, writing in every type of medium is special and has something I can learn from.

What is your favorite scripture or prayer and why?

Song is my favorite medium of prayer!

Gather #547: Sing of the Lord's Goodness

Isaiah 12: "We shall draw water joyfully, singing joyfully, singing joyfully; We shall draw water joyfully from the wellsprings of salvation!"

I think the joy in the lyrics of these songs are expressed so well in their melodies and instrumentations. They tell true love for God and all his creations, and it feels like the congregation is swelling up with elation when we all sing them together.

What do you love most about your ministry/serving at St. Patrick?

I love that I have been able to create a huge variety of videos with an incredible group of people who have awesome ideas with faith in me to match. I've done quite a few instructional videos--you've likely seen one if you've been trained as a sacristan or EMHC recently! I've also done videos for Children's Religious Education, Welcome Retreat invitations, and the 2024 Stewardship kick-off. Last month I did something new and made prayer aides for every day of the Divine Mercy Novena. Every video presents its own set of challenges, but I always enjoy taking on challenges that push my creativity and abilities to new heights. I'm really lucky to be able to assist with worship in such a unique way.

American Flag Collection

The Knights of Columbus will be at the church entrance prior to the Masses on May 18/19 to collect American flags which have become faded or soiled and are no longer a fitting emblem of display.
