MESSAGE FROM FR. JEFF

Hello everybody!

In a special way I want to extend, once again, my warm welcome to Fr. Loi Pham as our new associate pastor. His first homily was a fantastic introduction to him as a person and as a priest, especially about his (and all of our) motivation for service, which was taken from the second reading of St. Paul’s Second Letter to the Corinthians, “The love of Christ impels us.” If you were not able to be at the masses this past weekend, I encourage you to watch the video of his homily. Welcome home, Fr. Loi!

This weekend we will be handing out grocery bags for our annual food drive during the month of July for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. Run by volunteers, the pantry assisted over 7,200 people in need, including 4,110 children and 3,154 seniors, with groceries last year. That’s an average of over 600 households per month! Please take a bag this weekend, fill it up, and return it anytime during the month of July. Thank you for your generosity and making a real difference in people’s lives, for families, and in our wider community.

As we approach the week of July 4, it has become our “sabbatical week” for the parish staff. Following the pandemic, our Operations Team sensed the need for our Pastoral Team to recharge and renew amid the busyness and stress of life and ministry. Those who are able are encouraged to work from home and focus on personal, professional, and spiritual development. It is one way for our team to remain effective in ministry, by renewing and deepening their relationship with Jesus and their service to his people. Please pray for our whole team next week. Thanks.

May God refresh and renew all of us by his grace!

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

What is something people do not know about you?

I recently welcomed my first niece into the world!

What is your favorite scripture or prayer and why?

"The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come" Isaiah 57:1

This is my favorite scripture verse because my dad passed away when I was 8 years old, himself being only 27. This verse gave me some consolation when I first began to cope with the grief from that.

What do you love most about your ministry/serving at St. Patrick?

What I love most about my position here at St. Patrick’s is knowing that my work supports the faith and education of children. This makes me proud to be here and I’m honored to be impacting their futures.

Prayers and Financial Assistance for Katie Goben

In recent months, one of our St. Patrick school counselors, Katie Goben, was diagnosed with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer. At the time of the diagnosis, Katie and her husband Drew were expecting their first child and she was 25 weeks into pregnancy. She began treatment quickly after diagnosis. In order to keep treatment progressing, Katie and Drew recently welcomed baby Eloise a bit early. The family is doing well but the road ahead is long. To learn more about Katie's illness and to offer financial assistance, please click on the GoFundMe link HERE. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
