Hello everybody!
Respect Life month begins tomorrow, October 1. During this month, we reflect more deeply on the value and dignity of every human life. Thank you to our Disciples for Life ministry for their coordination of prayer and providing a variety of resources on every stage of life, from conception to natural death. We are also taking up a collection of basic necessity items for newborns and infants in support of the women assisted by the Little Way Pregnancy Resource Center and the Lifehouse Maternity Home. Collection bags will be in the gathering space this weekend.
I hope you saw the email on Monday announcing our new partnership with Hallow, the #1 prayer app that also launches on October 1. Our parish staff is working closely with Hallow to strengthen our culture of prayer at St. Patrick. The app can help each of us foster a personal and deeper relationship with Jesus, create consistent habits of prayer, and facilitate connections via small communities of prayer that will ultimately fuel the mission of our parish through our prayers. St. Patrick will have a dedicated page within the app that will include unique prayer challenges and you can post your prayer requests and pray for one another, free. If you want access to all of Hallow's premium content, there is a special parish discount code. Below you will find instructions to get started.
We are off and running to hit our CSA goals this year. The theme "Giving Hope to All" reminds me to thank you for your generosity and participation last year. You were remarkable in your giving and participation! We are part of the wider family of the church in central Kentucky, connected with all of our brothers and sisters across the Archdiocese of Louisville as the body of Christ. We need you again this year to reach our participation goal and I am grateful for your prayerful discernment of what God wants to do through you for the good of others.
The PTO sponsored Color Walk, our major fundraiser for our school, happens this Friday. This important effort shows the amazing level of engagement of our school families and raises much needed funds for many different school initiatives each year. I am grateful for all the efforts and enthusiasm that build generosity for our community. Thanks to our PTO, students, families, faculty, staff and sponsors!
The Season of Creation concludes on Saturday, October 4. We will have a Blessing of the Animals at 10:00 a.m. on the church plaza. All creatures of our God and King are welcome on this Feast of St. Francis.
May our eyes always be fixed on Jesus! May God bless you and all those whom you love.
Peace,
Fr. Jeff
