March & April
2019 Newsletter
Greetings!

Although the weather outside is cold and nasty, we are thinking spring here at The Center! We're preparing for a busy March and April with some new programs, free lunches, and the return of The KK&A Chamber of Commerce Older Workers Job Fair. We’ll run away with the circus with a special lecture by professional actress Mary Boucher and a showing of the Oscar-nominated film "The Greatest Showman." Sign up early as seating is limited.

We are eagerly anticipating the warmer weather and have heard from some members about the possibility of starting a bike club and a summer bocce league. Please reach out to The Center Team if you have any interest in these activities. Below is a special message from our founder Annie Spaulding.

Best,
Pat Schwebler, Executive Director

A Message from Annie Spaulding
Marcelle Brown passed away on Dec. 27, 2018, at the age of 100. She was the very first member of The Center back in the nineties. When she learned that a senior center was about to open she called me to ask if she could help as a volunteer. I had never met her as I was not only surprised but elated! I soon learned that she achieved her lifelong goal of receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Clark University at the age of 67!

She soon became an ardent fan and volunteer at The Center filling in wherever she was needed. Marcelle was an extraordinary woman with a warm and engaging personality! It was a joy to be in her presence and I treasure my memories of her.
