My Dear Central Family,
What a fantastic Global Impact Celebration (GIC) 2023 God gave us! Led by Ms. Carol Tucker Burden, GIC Chair, in partnership with Central's Mission Outreach Mobilization Team (MOMT), Min. Julie Gordon, Team Lead and Mrs. Claudia Therese Cotton, Partners Lead. Each year, the GIC centers on fulfilling the third principle of our Purpose, Embrace the Community. This year, the GIC introduced-Central to even more opportunities for partnership in mission outreach around the world- from Atlanta to Haiti to Uganda.
This is how, in Christ, our Mission Outreach Mobilization Team (MOMT), invites each of us to balance our discipleship. The display of partnerships hosted during the GIC shows how we are, and can, serve and give. Here, at home, our Central UMC Outreach Ministries include:
Central Benevolence Fund; Central Community Services; Central Food Pantry; Monday Morning Mission; Resource Closet; Second Saturday for Community Involvement; Youth Enrichment Program; United Methodist Men; United Women in Faith; Gammon Seminary Intern; Candler School of Theology Intern.
However, we can and do even more as a church through our Central UMC Partners:
Atlanta Community Food Bank; City of Refuge; Clark Atlanta University; End Mass Incarceration, Georgia Network; Fearless Dialogues; Friendship Towers Apartments; Fulton County Board of Health; Georgia Interfaith Power & Light; Georgia Poor People's Campaign; Humana; North Georgia Black Methodists for Church Renewal; Restaurant 10 & Rosie Coffee Cafe; The League of Women Voters; The New Georgia Project; TMS Global; United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR); Washington High School; YWCA of Greater Atlanta.
My Central Family, there is more to come! Through the GIC and MOMT- through you- we will become discipling congregation that God has called us to be and live into our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. I am grateful to you, Central! Your generosity allows us to touch souls directly and with partners. God blesses through us.
