Have You Felt the Excitement Lately?
Central's Youth Ministry is Climbing New Heights!
Members of the Youth Fellowship have attended a six-week Bible Study class on Tuesday evenings entitled
Three Simple Rules
. In the class, they have developed a deeper understanding of the UMC General Rules of
"Do Good, Do No Harm, and Stay in Live with God."
They have learned how these rules can apply in their daily lives.
Nine of our youth are engaged in a vibrant confirmation class. They study together and once a month they join with the confirmation class from Ben Hill United Methodist Church. Recently, the two confirmation classes participated in a team building experience at the Riverside Epi Center. They went rock-climbing and bowling. The rock-climbing experience helped to develop a trust and safety that they can experience in their relationship with God and how that trust may be extended to others. The confirmands will be confirmed soon.
Members of our youth are also sharing their gifts, skills and talents in our worship services. On three Sundays monthly, they lead the congregation in the scripture reading. On Fourth Sundays, the Anointed Voices Youth Choir provides inspirational music for the worship experience. Some of our youth are also involved in the Audio/Video Ministry, operating the cameras and the computers for our sanctuary screens. They have taken a lead in developing the slides that appear during the worship service.
Thank you Central for your prayers and financial support for our youth. These great opportunities could not have happened without your help. Thank you to their leaders for their energy and guidance. Youth coordinators: Janice Gumbs, Alexis Kellam, Margo Browning and Regina Brown. Confirmation Class: Antoinette Montgomery and Tavis Tinsley and Rev. Angela Johnson, our Assistant Pastor and Youth and Young Adult Minister.
