My Dear Central Family,
Sunday, November 1, 2020, was a glorious day in the Lord as Central held its first ever Drive-In Worship Service. The Joy of the Lord was truly felt because for the first time since March there was a gathering of people for assembly for worship. The Sacrament of Holy Communion, a litany of remembrances and balloons released in recognition of All Saints Sunday were also performed.
I was so pleased on this day Central’s members came together to worship collectively while parked and sitting in or standing beside their cars. Over 80 persons were on site. Chairs were provided for invited residents from the high-rise apartment building across the street and community members who just stopped by. People parked in cars at the restaurant and drivers by honked their horns signifying “amen” along with church members. A transmitter allowed Church and community members to have FM reception in their cars and outside audio speakers were also used. Our Worship Design Team planned registration for parking spots. Following CDC guidelines, the youth and young adults were key in planning the service.
Jason Berry, a high school student, assigned and coordinated work stations. Other youth led, assisted by adults, greeting worshipers in the parking lot. Live preaching, prayer and music was staged on the cat-walk balcony of the Education Building. The Central Church discipleship system calls for us to Exalt the Lord, Equip the Saints, and Embrace the Community (Our Purpose Statement). Our drive-in service embodied the entire statement in a bold innovative way! I am so glad we did it."
Thank you to those of you who pay tithes, offerings and make donations. Because of your generosity, Central can provide innovative in-person worship services. Because of your giving we have the technology to make it happen.
Take good care, keep the faith, be safe and always be well!
