Construction Begins on Dana Point Town Center Water, Sewer and Storm Drain Improvement Project

Guest column by South Coast Water District

After years of planning and coordination between South Coast Water District (SCWD), the City of Dana Point and the community, we are pleased to break ground on the Town Center Water, Sewer and Storm Drain Improvement Project (Project). The Project will bring added water, sewer and storm drain improvements to the Town Center area and provide the infrastructure necessary to accommodate the anticipated number of people living and working in Town Center.

Construction is being approached in phases with the water district starting and completing utility work before the city begins street-level changes. The water district will tackle Pacific Coast Highway first and replace lines from Copper Lantern to Blue Lantern over the next three months.
Once finished, the city will come in to complete median, sidewalk and landscape work. Construction along PCH is expected to last through October 2014, at the end of which, traffic will travel in two ways down the now one-way road. At the same time the water district can begin construction on Del Prado utilities.
Both city and water district officials have confirmed outreach will be done to address any issues that may arise and work is being done to mitigate effects on residents and businesses.
The South Coast Water District has launched a construction hotline at 949.499.4555 ext. 9.

"...from the hills of Hollywood to the sea... in Dana Point"

Sidney Woodruff, the enterprising builder who developed both Hollywoodland and Dana Point, used this statement to promote his distinctive urban "home-place" in the Hollywood Hills near Los Angeles and his Community of Enchantment By -the-Sea in Dana Point.

This year, at our thirteenth annual Home Tour, we are featuring those homes and buildings Woodruff built here in Dana Point, his dream of a resort and play-land by the sea.

Our signature house for the 2013 Home Tour is Woodruff's own original home. It will be open to visitors along with a number of other carefully preserved and, in some cases, enlarged Woodruff homes in Lantern Village. You will enjoy the architecture, the dcor and the gardens of these treasured homes. T
