The new-look Chamber Connection in September

We asked for your opinions and you responded. We've spent a few weeks revamping and retooling the weekly newsletter and will soon unveil the changes. We'll keep the things you said you enjoyed, regular updates on new businesses and projects around Ross County, as well as add some regular features on our members, volunteer opportunities, and more.  And, best of all, we're going to update the design and feel of it to best serve our members.
A note from the desk of CRCC President and CEO Mike Throne:

As we celebrate the agriculture and farming community this week at the 75th annual Ross County Fair, it's important to remember that many of our farmers have had a tough year.

Tariffs were the first big blow, and since the beginning of the year, agriculture experts have been talking about the devastating impact farmers could suffer as the crops they grow have fewer places to go as China shuts down the borders to U.S. goods and services. Late May storms caused straight-line winds, tornadoes, flooding, and even landslides in part of the state and more hardship befell the agriculture community.

Meanwhile, those rains were a harbinger of things to come -- a wet early summer to date created more production losses across Ross County and the entire state.

Now comes word that China has halted U.S. agricultural imports in the wake of further tariffs imposed last week.

And, we haven't even gotten to the long, hot part of the "long, hot summer" yet. All in all, it's a been a tough year.

News and notes
  • Ross County has a portion of the state's Opportunity Zone website that promotes the offerings we have here. Click here to see what we're showing potential investors and click here if you have a project you'd like to promote.
  • If you've not seen the outdoor drama "Tecumseh!" in 2019, you can save money and help needy while you enjoy the show. Each Monday, Ohio residents can save $10 on regular adult tickets by providing proof of residence and at least two cans of food per person. Tickets are available from 2 p.m. on the day of the show, limited to one per person and not available by phone or online. Food will be donated in Ross, Pike and Pickaway counties.
  • Tonight is the first of two informational meetings to discuss the sampling results at the Zahn's Corner Middle School. On July 24, the Energy Department announced the results of environmental sampling done at the school during the Memorial Day weekend. The analysis of those samples found "no public health or safety risk from radioactive material." Tonight's meeting begins at 6 at the Pike County Career and Technology Center, 175 Beaver Creek Road; while tomorrow's session is also at the same time and place.
We get questions often about medical marijuana and CBD oils. Here's a quick video from our friends at Working Partners that answers one of the most common questions we get.

Will CBD show up on a drug test?
