If I had my hands on that groundhog....

I'm not sure who else is a little tired of winter, but thankfully we are getting closer to warmer weather and trees beginning to bud - as soon as this ice melts. Hopefully everyone had a safe week and are ready to enjoy a great weekend.

This was a busy week for your Chamber staff. We spent it in Columbus with about 100 other chamber professionals from around the state, sharing ideas and learning of ways to help our community grow and become stronger. I know we may have missed a phone call or visit or two, but know that we have to have professional development just like your staff and employees and we are now more prepared to serve you and our community because of it.

While we were gone, news about a major employer hit the media. As reported, Glatfelter announced that a possible sale of certain divisions of the company may occur at some point in the future. In a statement given to the Chamber, the decision was made by the company's board of directors to explore strategic alternatives for the Specialty Papers division in Spring Grove, PA., Fremont and Chillicothe. There is a lot of work to be done before final decisions - or a sale - can take place. And until then, Glatfelter officials are committed to ensuring the health and safety of its employees and will continue to operate as usual. We'll keep you updated on any further news.
