A NOTE FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO

This has been a tough few days. Schools have been closed, business interrupted, and now that above normal temperatures are in the forecast for the next few days, people will be trying to relieve their cabin fever. So, enjoy the weekend!

Final discussions have been completed and an agreement has been reached for the County to handle all commercial building permits and inspections for the city of Chillicothe. What that means, if someone needs a permit for any commercial building projects, you must go to the Building Department for Ross County at 15 N. Paint St., directly across from the Ross County Courthouse. Or give Jill a call at 740.773.7200. This has been something needed in our community for some time. Having one central location administering the process and inspections will allow consistency for the entire county. Thanks to the City and County administration for taking the steps to help our businesses grow and easing part of the process.

The Greater Chillicothe Ross Vision Project will present at the Community Forecast Breakfast on Groundhog Day, Friday, Feb. 2nd, at the Chillicothe Country Club. The event is open to the public and sponsored by Kingston National Bank. Registration can be done at www.chillicotheohio.com and click on calendar of events.

There is an event next Wednesday that some may be interested in attending, the first Ohio ACT Workforce Forum, to be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel from 1:30-4:30 p.m. At this free event, leaders from across Ohio and from ACT will discuss the state of the workforce in Ohio and work readiness system tools, including ACT WorkKeys, the ACT National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) and Work Ready Communities. The event will open with a keynote from Ryan Burgess, Director of the Governor's Office of Workforce Transformation. This forum is open to those in the business and workforce development communities, as well as to K-12 and postsecondary educators and administrators who work closely with career preparedness. Finally, I'd like to welcome our newest Business Development Center resident. Tammy Eallonardo began her duties officially this week as the new Economic Development Director for Greater Chillicothe Ross County Development. Her office is located in our building at 45 E. Main St. and she can be reached at 740.772.5100. We look forward to working with Tammy and wish her the very best as we continue to build a greater Chillicothe and Ross County.

Again, enjoy the weekend!

COMMUNITY FORECAST BREAKFAST REGISTRATION
Groundhog Day has traditionally been observed as a day to forecast the remaining winter weather. And in Chillicothe, it's a day to use as a forecast of our community's growth and development for the upcoming year.

Kingston National Bank will again sponsor this event, hosted by the Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce on Friday, Feb. 2nd, 2018. The Community Forecast Breakfast will be held at the Chillicothe Country Club, 800 Arch St., beginning at 7:30 AM. Doors open at 7.

The public is invited to hear updates on community initiatives from the Greater Chillicothe Ross Community Vision Project team. Information will be shared involving work that is being done on making our area a destination for those using trials and waterways for recreation, projects that are improving the health and wellness of our citizens by building a new 2-1-1 phone system, and a report on the educational opportunities in our area that will help build the workforce of tomorrow. The community's new economic development director also will be publicly introduced and share her thoughts on the economic forecast for greater Chillicothe and Ross County.
