TARIFFS GOOD FOR THE LOCAL ECONOMY?
The current state of trade and burgeoning trade wars have many concerned about the long-term effects on the local economy.

However, as shippers look to get ahead of newly imposed tariffs, the south sound is actually reaping benefits...for now.

The ports of Tacoma and Seattle reported that June import volumes were up 8.8 percent from June 2017, to their highest level since 2010, while export volumes were up 14 percent from the year-ago period to the highest level since 2005.

These jobs, which load and unload ships and cargo, boats an average annual salary of $175,000 with an additional $110,000 in benefits. The deadline for applications is Thursday, August 9.
