The Pandemic and Protests
Navigating Work Issues During Troubling Times
Presented by:
Timothy Boughey and Michael Hill
Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP
While employers must confront complex workplace challenges presented by both a worldwide pandemic and a time of social unrest, there is no "how-to" guide for effectively managing the workplace in this environment. This webinar will provide employers and managers with practical and real-life guidance for handling common COVID-19-related workplace issues, including refusals to work or return to work, suspected abuse of leave, and reasonable accommodations issues under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Additionally, we will discuss how to respond to social issues in the workplace such as employee leave requests related to attending a protest, march, or rally, employer responses to social movements, and speech-related issues stemming from employee speech and conduct in the workplace and on social media. This section will also cover how employers can implement or address employee and media questions about diversity initiatives.
