October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month!
The Chamber is grateful for Cherokee Family Violence Center (CFVC)’s ongoing support of domestic violence survivors in our community. We know that true support is more than just wearing t-shirts; that’s why our team is committed to raising awareness by shining a spotlight on the issue of domestic violence in our area.
- In 2019 there were 3,593 domestic violence related calls made to Cherokee County 911.
- CFVC’s transitional housing development for families affected by domestic violence is one of the largest of its type in the nation.
- Last year, CFVC staff and volunteers served 1,876 people who were affected by domestic violence.
- 218 Temporary Protective Orders were filed by CFVC legal advocates to support survivors needing protection from abusers.
For the remainder of October, CFVC and the Cherokee County Domestic Violence Task Force will celebrate domestic violence survivors by sharing their stories on their social media platforms. Visit Facebook.com/CCDVTaskForce and Facebook.com/CFVCinfo to learn more about the cause and how you can help.
We invite you to join CFVC and the Cherokee County Domestic Violence Task Force on Thursday, October 29, as they honor the memory of our neighbors and friends lost to domestic violence during the past year. A Virtual Vigil will be held in their memory, hosted on the CCDV Task Force’s Facebook page using the link above.
If you would like to support CFVC during #DVAM2020,

Webinar
Five Methods to Conflict Resolution
PRESENTED BY:
Daniel McCoy,
KSU Small Business Development Center
Conflict occurs in our workplace almost daily with clients, coworkers and other stakeholders. Often it is a simple answer to resolve the issue, but there are times when conflict can cause productivity to suffer, cause emotional stress, employees to leave or possibly worse. Conflict resolution is a way for two or more parties to find a peaceful solution to a disagreement among them. When a dispute arises, often the best course of action is negotiation to resolve the disagreement.
This webinar examines the tools you can use to understand conflict and improve as a Conflict Resolution Negotiator. Discussion includes five methods of dealing with conflict and the six steps to take in the conflict resolution process.
Cost: $10
Payment Policy: Payment must be made prior to the event date in order to hold your seat. Refunds are not offered. If you cancel 48 hours in advance, a credit for a future workshop will be issued.
