2019 WORKSHOP SERIES
The Do's and Don'ts When Trying to
Hire the Right Employee
Wednesday, October 9th
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce
Are you one of the many employers that are unsure of what you can ask a candidate in a job interview? For instance, can an employer ask a candidate the following: Why did you leave that job? Where do you live? What's your commute going to be like? Do you have a salary expectation? How many hours can you work?
And once you decide you like the person and want to make an offer, do you know what your offer letter should contain (and avoid)?
Many have commented that the most important component to hiring a good long-term employee is understanding the application and interviewing process. Unfortunately, too many employers are frozen by the tangled web of employment laws that they don't ask the necessary questions or they are so focused on filling a position that they forget to truly assess the needs of the position and compare them against a candidate's skillset.
Join us as we explore the do's and don'ts of the hiring process. Not only will we explore the legal contours of the interviewing and hiring process, but we also will discuss some tips that should help all employers in filtering through the candidate haystack to find the proverbial needle that suits your culture and the duties of the open position.
