2019 WORKSHOP SERIES PRESENTED BY:

The Biggest Wage & Hour Mistakes
Employers Make & How to Avoid Them

Wednesday, August 14th
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

LOCATION:
Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce
Terrace Level

It is believed that over 80% of employers are unknowingly violating the web of wage and hour laws that govern their treatment of employees.  At the same time, it is believed that the percentage of employees (and former employees) who know and understand their rights and are ready to speak up is rapidly increasing.  As running afoul of wage and hour regulations can be very costly, even for those employers with the best intentions, employers must ensure that their wage and hour policies and procedures are compliant with the federal Fair Labor Standards Act as well as state wage/hour statutes.

Join us as we discuss some critical wage and hour issues that employers must understand, including:
  • The three mandatory conditions that must be satisfied to classify someone as an exempt employee
  • How to reduce your exposure to "working off of the clock" claims
  • Navigating meal and rest break issues
  • Options for paying employees who are on leave without creating wage and hour exposure
INSTRUCTOR:
Brad Adler, Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP

COST:
Members: $25; after 8/7: $30
Future Members: $45
