UGA SBDC at Kennesaw State
Accepting Applications for
this year's SBDC GrowSMART™ Program
An innovative exclusive program designed to help established
small business owners work ON their business, not just IN it.
The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center at Kennesaw State University (UGA SBDC at KSU) is accepting applications for its 2019 signature program GrowSMART™. This specialized program, designed for established business owners and leaders poised for break-out growth, consists of five day-long sessions from 9am - 4pm held on Wednesday, July 31, August 7, August, 14, August 27, and Thursday, August 29 at the KSU Center, 3333 Busbee Drive, Kennesaw.
"Whether in business for two years or twenty years, many small business owners are so busy working IN their business, they neglect working ON it. The success of the SBDC GrowSMART™ program is the result of its unique holistic approach. Entrepreneurs learn to analyze and manage their business like a seasoned CEO, discuss best practices among their peers and learn new strategies from experts in key functional areas", explains Drew Tonsmeire, Area Director of the UGA SBDC at KSU.
Georgia Power has sponsored UGA SBDC programs for growing businesses since 2002. Through their support of SBDC GrowSMART™, over 2,000 of Georgia's small business leaders have acquired the tools to take their businesses to a higher level.
To learn more and fill out an application to be considered for this year's SBDC GrowSMART™ Program at KSU, click here. There is an early enrollment discount of $300 for those who are accepted and register before July 1.

Where Have All the Employees Gone?
How Do I Find Them?
Daniel McCoy, KSU Small Business Development Center
There seems to be a shortage of qualified employees available in today's worker's pool. Potential employees today can be more selective than they have been in the past. There are many reasons for this: college education has driven expectations of today's employee base to a much higher standard; recent tightening of immigration laws has led to a smaller number of applicants; the Baby Boomers are aging out of the working populations. According to a study by ADP Effective Talent Management, there are 75 million workers in the US that will be retiring in the next 10 years and only 45 million in the talent pool to take their place. Lack of skilled labor and unskilled labor is prevalent in industries from commercial airlines pilots to landscaping.
How can you attract the qualified employee? This workshop will explore what recruitment options are available to today's small business owner.
Members: $30; after 6/18: $35
Future Members: $55
