Indianapolis continues to find itself near the top of the list in relation to the tech industry, ranking 10th for tech real estate deals and 5th for tech job growth. Between 2010 and 2015, tech employment grew by 72% and with growth comes change.
Salesforce, which acquired ExactTarget four years ago, plans to hire 800 more people by 2021. Named the CRM market leader, SalesForce is on the verge of topping $10 billion in revenue this year. Vertical industries, expanded suite of apps, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence are a few reasons why CEO Mark Benioff believes revenue will surpass the $20 billion mark within the next few years.
Infosys, an India-based company that provides technology consulting services, plans to invest more than $8.7 million to establish operations in Indianapolis. Ravi Kumar, Infosys President and Deputy COO, stated that the 2,000 employees they hire and train by 2022 will "help drive U.S. economic growth and
innovation in cloud, big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning throughout various industries."
After the $1.4 billion acquisition of the cloud-based tech firm Interactive Intelligence, Genesys now has the power of two of the four companies in the Magic Quadrant for Contact Center Infrastructure. Tom Eggemeier, the president of Genesys, recently stated that they're "going to start growing again in the city" and that there will be upcoming announcements about plans to expand its 930-employee base in Indianapolis.
Angie's List is to be acquired by IAC, a New York-based company and parent of HomeAdvisor, for more than $500 million. The new company, ANGI Home Services, will be based out of Golden, Colorado. The fact that IAC plans to cut between $50 million to $75 million in costs by the end of next year raises questions for the company's future and 1,500 employees in Indianapolis. Fortunately, Brooke Gabbert, the spokeswoman for HomeAdvisor, recently stated that "Angie’s List will remain in Indianapolis."
