USA Dance Board Welcomes Lolita Brawner as Vice President of Social Dance
|
The USA Dance Board of Directors unanimously ratified President Richard’s appointment of Lolita Brawner as the new Social Vice President for USA Dance. Lolita, a native of Eldorado, Illinois and current resident of Tallahassee, Florida is no stranger to serving USA Dance as a volunteer leader. Lolita is the current President of the Tallahassee Chapter 6010 and served as the District Director for District 9 for the last several years. As Chapter President she grew the chapter Facebook following from 21 to 798 followers, added weekly lessons to their monthly dance socials, organized the first Florida Sunshine Dance & Symposium, and received over $53,000 in grants to support chapter operations. As District Director she has helped lead one of the most active districts before, during, and post the COVID pandemic.
This experience on the chapter and national level, when combined with her professional background as Certified Meeting Professional Manager, will allow her to hit the ground running as we rebuild the Social Dance division following the effects of the COVID pandemic on our organization. Lolita can be contacted at social-vp@usadance.org.

All Chapters of USA Dance must submit a list of those paid $200 or more by the chapter in prior year. Even if you paid someone less than $200 cumulative in 2021, please submit that information anyways as they may have been paid over $200 cumulative from other USA Dance chapters and the National Organization must account for this. The excel form is available for download at https://usadance.org/page/FinancialRecords and should be emailed to talley@usadance.org no later than January 6, 2022. Meeting this deadline is important for our organization to meet the IRS timelines and maintain our non-profit status.

Quarter 3 Chapter Member Rebates Have Been Mailed -
1 Month to go to Maximize Your Q4 Chapter Rebates
|
|
In July the Board of Directors approved a chapter rebate program proposed by Senior Vice President Todd Kirrane to support and incentivize our chapters to begin operations and recruit membership. In addition to giving all new and renewed social dance member an extra month of membership, the incentive program offered $5 for every social dance membership paid to the chapter for use of the local level in support of chapter operations. This month we happily mailed out $6550 to 121 chapters throughout the country. Congratulations to Chapter 4038 in Las Vegas who topped the program receiving $400 for 80 new/renewed members between July and October. We apologize for them taking so long, but they were delayed by the fact that not all chapters have maintained an updated officer list with the national organization. It is important to keep these lists maintained so if you have not sent in the officer list to nationals please do so today. The updated list is due by December 31st and can be accessed at https://usadance.org/page/FinancialRecords.

Insurance Certificates & Music Reporting Forms
|
As chapters begin hosting events we have received an increase in requests for insurance liability policies to cover the event locations. Our National Liability Insurance policy covers our chapter events and facilities that host these events. Requests for coverage certificates can be made by completing the “Blank Request for Certificate of Insurance Form” available in the Chapter Admin section of our website. The form includes instructions on how to submit the form. Just a reminder that you must be logged in to access this part of the website.
Similarly, the National organization maintains membership licenses with the 3 largest music copyright holders - ASCAP. BMI, SESAC - to allow chapters to play music without violating copyright laws. An important part of this is keeping track of the level of music played at events to ensure we are not overcharged. Therefore we require that chapters submit the “Quarterly Event Attendance Reporting Form” available in the Chapter Admin section of our website. The form includes instructions on how to submit the form. Just a reminder that you must be logged in to access this part of the website.

National Calendar for Upcoming Events
|
The National Organization is seeking to inspire America to get back to social dancing and part of this is to promote chapter based dance events throughout the country via our calendar so that when people begin traveling and want to social dance they have a single place to look OR to inspire other chapters to begin holding events as public health restrictions allow it. The calendar is available at https://usadance.org/events/event_list.asp
To ensure your event is listed you can either:
please create the event within your chapter’s SocialLink group, complete this form, and then National Officers will be able to add it to the National calendar; OR
Email the relevant info (date, time, chapter, theme or event name, contact info, flyer, etc.) to chapter-announcements@usadance.org and the Marketing & Communications Committee will add it for you.
