December 18, 2020
I pray you all have a blessed Christmas, as we celebrate God’s gift of something better in Jesus. As we look forward to His coming, we also celebrate how Christ comes each day through the members of our community.

One of those members of our community is our CCLS Technology Assistant, Carrie Reck-Meyer. For 31 years, Mrs. Reck-Meyer has served CCLS, starting as a parent volunteer and later becoming our Director of Technology. Mrs. Reck-Meyer has had a lasting impact on our school: With her passion for our children and the Lord, she led CCLS to its first computer lab, green screen experience, iPads for students, and much more. We greatly appreciate her willingness to help transition our IT Department to new leadership with Mr. Vann, and to remain as a part-time IT support over the last few years. This month, Mrs. Reck-Meyer will “officially” retire from her staff role at CCLS. We pray God’s richest blessings upon Mrs. Reck-Meyer as she spends more time with her family in the New Year. If you see her around, please be sure to thank Mrs. Reck-Meyer for her Christ-centered serving leadership.

Merry Christmas! We look forward to seeing you all in 2021!
Matt Hoehner
Executive Director

...Early Childhood... Though 2020 has been different than any of us expected, I look back on the last semester with great joy and awe for all that our early childhood program has accomplished through our amazing staff. Our teachers and assistants have worked tirelessly to keep your children in a safe, loving environment. They have dedicated hours of preparation to ensure your little ones keep learning and growing through this unique year. They have shared Jesus, both in word and action, so that our students are wrapped in the knowledge and love of their Savior Jesus. I am humbled to serve among these extraordinary educators. Thank you for your kind words and generous gifts to our ECE staff as 2020 comes to a close. We pray that as you celebrate Christmas, you will be strengthened in the knowledge that our Emmanuel, our “God with us”, embraces us and brings us with hope into all that 2021 has in store! Thank you for the privilege of serving your family, and thank you for entrusting your most precious gift with us – your children! Blessings upon your Christmas season!
- Angela Shirley, Director of Early Childhood
...Elementary... Here we are at the end of the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year. God has blessed us in so many ways along this journey. We give thanks to Him for these blessings. There have also been heartaches along the way. We know that God is in charge and that He wraps his arms around us during the difficult times. I am praying that each of you have a wonderful Christmas and that you are able to be in touch with family, in person, by zoom or by phone. Families are a special gift from God. May everyone stay safe and well until we are back together again on January 4th, 2021.
- Janet Leet, Elementary School Principal
...Middle School... We made it through the first semester. The middle school staff would like to thank all of our families for partnering with us in the training and raising of your children. We are extremely blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful families. "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. We wish you all a very blessed and Merry Christmas!
- Royce Hartmann, Middle School Principal

Assistant Teacher Opportunities
CCLS is pleased to offer part-time Assistant Teacher opportunities starting after Christmas Break. These are excellent opportunities for college students pursuing an Education degree or experienced teachers who enjoy scaling back to part-time hours. Do you know someone who would be a great fit in our CCLS community? Interested applicants can apply directly at our Careers page or receive more information by contacting Jessica Anderson, Director of HR, at 314-822-7774 or janderson@ccls-stlouis.org.
Basketball Welcome Desk Help
We are excited for the upcoming basketball season, but we will need special help to make games happen. Might you consider occasionally sharing 1-2 hours of your time to help welcome people to CCLS, ask them to pass in front of the thermal temperature computer, and direct them to the gym?  Please submit your name to "raise your hand" and say you'd consider helping once our basketball schedule is set (to begin in January). Thanks for your extra help!
Youth Coding League
It has been a great season for our coding club! We had a really great group of students who worked together and problem solved throughout the season. We had the 3rd place Technical Merit and 2nd place team for Community Favorite! You can see the results from the whole competition in this video!
This week was the last SCRIP order for 2020. Over Christmas break the money you earned will be added to your TADS account. If you have any questions about how your payout is applied, please contact Carrie Duesenberg. The next SCRIP order will be
