March 12, 2021
I hope that you all have a safe and restful Spring Break next week! As we look forward to the spring months ahead, there are a lot of new and exciting things planned at CCLS -- please check out all the information below. In particular, I invite you to consider signing up for the CCLS Golf Classic, which will be held on May 10th at Glen Echo Country Club. If golfing is not your thing, you’re welcome to sign up for the reception afterwards and join us outside on the patio. This is a great opportunity for us to grow in our fellowship with one another -- to build our CCLS community, strengthen old friendships, and make some new ones.

Have a great Spring Break!

Executive Director

...Elementary... Spring Break is Here!
We are all looking forward to some time away from school next week. Please enjoy your days off and keep practicing precautions so that we can all be back together again on March 22nd.
When we are all back together, the pick-up line will go back to having lots of cars. Here are a couple of reminders to help things flow smoothly:
  • When arriving in the afternoon, look up the driveway hill and if the cars are backed up PLEASE make a left and wind through the playground parking lot. This keeps the backup from spilling onto Watson Road and possibly causing accidents.
  • If you are driving through the pick up line, please stay in your car. If you need to help your child get buckled in, pull into the playground lot to do that.
  • Remember that there is always the option of parking on the playground lot and walking to the students to pick them up.
  • Thanks for sharing these reminders with the people who pick up your children.
Have a blessed spring break!
...Middle School... Today, March 12, ends the third quarter. Can you believe we are already entering the last quarter of this school year?

What a joy it was to once again host the annual CCLS Spelling Bee. Congratulations to all the spellers who qualified for the event. All the spellers did well. We applaud Alison Stengel (5th grade) who is the CCLS runner-up and Jordan Hemler (7th grade) who is the CCLS Spelling Bee Champion for 2021.
Teacher Announcement

We are pleased to announce that Katie Ogden has accepted the Call to serve as Kindergarten teacher here at CCLS next year, as Suzanne Braun will be retiring.

Katie obtained her bachelor's degree in Elementary Ed, emphasis in Early Childhood, from SEMO in 2011; colloquized via CU-Chicago in 2012; and is finishing a Master's in Educational Technology from Webster Univ. this year in May. You may already know her, as she is a current CCLS parent with two children enrolled (a 1st-Grader and a Pre-K 4s) plus a third child at home. In addition, Katie is a current/active church member at one of our CCLS association churches (LCWG).
We are so thrilled to present Charger Camp! Charger Camp is our Christ-centered summer program for students entering grades 1-5 that will provide them with opportunities for fun, learning new skills, and daily educationally focused activities. Summer 2021 is potentially one of the most important after the year we all faced, so we are committed to making it a summer full of relaxation, creating new memories, and building long-lasting friendships. Charger Camps will run from June 7th- July 30th from 8 am-2 pm with options to choose the week(s) you prefer! Sign up now through Sawyer. If you have any questions, please email Tayler Campbell at
Lunch Update

The Charger Cafe (middle school campus only) will start offering a few "extras" for purchase at lunchtime, beginning after spring break. All items will be $1, and charged in the same manner as regular hot lunches. You will not need to pre-order. Assortment will vary daily, as we explore options that students will enjoy. Some options include:
  • String Cheese w/ Fresh Fruit
  • Greek Yogurt Cups
  • Hummus w/ Fresh Veggies
  • Nutri Grain Bars
  • Sun Chips
  • Assorted Fruits
  • Popcorn (SmartPop or similar)
  • Frozen Treats
  • Homemade Dessert
Service Opportunity
One of our middle school students noticed a need of about 30 Concordia families who could use help with basic spring yard work, and is organizing a day to do this work! We need the help of our amazing CCLS community to be able to bless that many families through this event by raking leaves/gumballs, picking up sticks, and pulling weeds!
Join us on April 10th!
Celebration of Grandparents & Special Friends
We aren't able to host our Grandparents and Special Friends in-person on campus this year, but we are planning some fun activities and ways to connect these special members of our CCLS community with our school and students! Look for more details in the coming weeks about our Celebration of Grandparents & Special Friends on April 22 and 23 -- we are planning live-streamed performances, a video chapel message, and special student projects to share. (Please note that these will be regular school days for student attendance.)
We're Hiring: Kid Kare Worker
CCLS has a new opening in our elementary aftercare program, Kid Kare. Hours are after school, 3:00-5:30. You can work all five days, Monday through Friday, or we can create a schedule with the exact days that work for you! Great opportunity for adults, college students, or mature high schoolers. Summer employment opportunities may be available as well. Pay rate: $12.26/hr. Apply online at the school website Careers page or email
March Madness
March Book Madness 2021 is in full swing at both the Elementary and Middle School campuses. The theme this year is “Just Some Great Books.” Below you will find both the Elementary Picture book bracket and the Middle Grade Novel bracket. Once again, we’re so excited to partner with our good friends at The Novel Neighbor in Webster Groves to order any of the titles. Please click on the link above to order any titles. Once your order has arrived, Mrs. Foristal will pick up and distribute accordingly. Happy reading!
