May 21, 2021
It was great to see the community celebrate Field Day at the Elementary Campus today. I want to share a big shout out to Nancy Knost for organizing the day and to all our parent volunteers. You all are a tremendous blessing to our CCLS community. Thank you for your serving leadership!

Our teams are working diligently to ensure that all our students, including those sick and in quarantine, can have a proper celebration and end to the school year. More information will be coming from our school leaders over the next few days.

One of the strengths of CCLS is that we are part of a much larger Christian community that shares our mission to transform lives through Christ-centered education. This week we were blessed to receive news that the Lutheran Elementary School Association (LESA) is providing over $27,000 in tuition support for our families who applied for aid. We give thanks for LESA’s partnership in the Gospel. If you have any questions about a LESA scholarship, please contact our Director of finance, Carrie Duesenberg at cduesenberg@ccls-stlouis.org.

Have a great week in the Lord!

UPCOMING DATES

Last Day of School Picnic May 28
...Early Childhood... ECE Parents - just a reminder that our last day of school is Friday, May 28th. All ECE classes will dismiss at 11:45am. There will be no afternoon classes or aftercare that day. Please join us for the Last Day of School Picnic at Kirkwood Park from 11:30am-1:30pm! We hope to see you there!
...Elementary... Our beloved kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Suzanne Braun will be retiring from teaching at the end of this school year. Mrs. Braun has been sharing the love of Jesus with children in Lutheran schools for 43 years! She has taught in schools in Illinois, Michigan, Texas and now for six years at Christ Community Lutheran School. God has truly blessed His lambs through her ministry! Mrs. Braun has plans to travel, to work in her gardens, to take long walks with her dog, Downton, and to catch up on her reading. We will truly miss her smiling presence at the elementary campus. We love you, Mrs. Braun!
...Middle School...  Thank you teachers for the time, effort, creativity, and energy given to create middle school class field trips this year. What a blessing this is for the students! Your work is appreciated!
Closing Chapel

This year we will have two Closing Chapel services due to the number of students we have and space limitations. One service will be held at the Elementary Campus and another at our Middle School Campus, both similar in content. Since parents cannot attend Closing Chapel this year, we will live stream the Middle School service on Friday, 5/28 at 9:45am for parents and other family members to view. The live stream can be viewed here.
We are very excited to once again gather together as a school community to celebrate the last day of school with a picnic at Kirkwood Park. The picnic will be held from 11:30a-1:30p RAIN or SHINE! Join us at the Sugar Creek & Lions Pavilions and nearby picnic sites, located between the tennis courts and playground. Look for the red balloons!

You are invited to order a boxed lunch or bring your own food. Boxed lunch will be catered from Viviano's and will cost $8 (directly billed through TADS for your convenience). These preordered lunches will be available onsite at the picnic rain or shine. Order no later than Monday, May 24th.

There will be a yummy treat after lunch for all to help kick off summer! Please RSVP even if you are bringing your own lunch.
To the parents of students in 3rd-8th grade:

The students in grades three through eight have completed three rounds of the Northwest Evaluation Assessment during this school year. Next week you will receive an email message with general information about the NWEA program including links to resources that will help you understand the scores. In your child's report card you will receive a printout with your student's growth report. The report cards will be mailed during the week of June 7th. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please contact Katie Foristal, kforistal@ccls-stlouis.org or 314-378-7779.
