End of the First Quarter

As we finish the first quarter of the school year, I want to thank all of our teachers for going above and beyond to provide support for our students -- both on campus and at home distance learning. As always, thank you parents for partnering with us in this Christ-centered educational endeavor. With your help, CCLS is now the largest Independent Private Primary School in the St. Louis area. For more updates about CCLS, please see our 2020 CCLS Annual Report.

Please mark your calendars for some upcoming days off school: Tuesday, October 20 is an early dismissal day for K-8 grade students (full day for ECE), and Wednesday,  October 21 through Friday, October 23 there will be no school for all students, ECE -8th Grade. During this time, parents will have opportunities to participate in parent-teacher conferences (see information below from principals), and teachers will also be involved in professional development activities. (Note that now is a great time to check your student’s Educate account in preparation for those conferences - see Educate instructions at this link.) We hope that our families will have a chance to enjoy a Fall Break!

Have a great weekend in the LORD!
Matt Hoehner
Executive Director

...Early Childhood... Please note that our ECE will be closed for parent/teacher conferences and teacher professional development on October 21, 22, and 23. Details regarding parent teacher conferences will be shared by your child’s teacher.
...Elementary... The elementary playground structures will be opening for the kindergarten through fourth grade students to use at recess times on Monday! The students have been patiently waiting for this! The students will wear masks when they are on the equipment. Just a reminder that the playground is not open to families at this time. Thank you for your cooperation!
Today is the end of the first quarter. Report cards will be coming home next Friday, the 16th. We will have our conferences the following week on Tuesday and Wednesday,10/20 and 10/21. Your elementary students are bringing home a conference request note. Please complete the form and return it to your child's teacher by next Tuesday, 10/13. Your conference times will be sent home with the report cards on the 16th.
We are offering Kid Kare on the afternoon of 10/20. An email was sent to all K-8 families regarding Kid Kare registration for that day. Here is the link to the registration form for Kid Kare for 10/20. Registrations are due by Friday, 10/16.
...Middle School... Middle school parent-teacher conferences will take place on Tuesday, 10/20 from 1:00pm-5:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm, as well as on Wednesday, 10/21 from 8:00am-12:00pm. All middle school conferences will be conducted via Zoom and 15 minutes in length. Sign ups for conferences and zoom links will be emailed to you early next week.  Please note that Tuesday, 10/20, will be a half day of school. The middle school will dismiss at 12:15pm. Bus transportation WILL be available between the two CCLS campuses.
Daily Attendance & Health Screening Form Text Reminders

Today was the last day for text reminders to fill out the daily Student Attendance & Health Screening Form. Please continue to complete the form each day for your K-8 grade student -- the link to the form is found as a button on the MY CCLS page of the website.
CCLS Boosters & Community Business Directory
We are excited that CCLS is able to offer athletics and extracurricular programs for our students this school year! As competition gets underway for our teams, we want to highlight our CCLS Boosters program. CCLS Boosters supports our athletes and club members with fun encouragement and help funding team uniforms and scholarships for participation in activities.

In past years, CCLS Boosters has put together an Athletic Booklet which contained business advertisements to raise funds. This year, we are taking a different approach. Instead of offering ads in a print booklet, we will re-promote the online CCLS Community Business Directory that was started last spring as a way to support local businesses during the pandemic.

If you would like your business to be included in our CCLS Community Business Directory, you can simply fill out the form at this link: Directory - Entry Form. We will continue to offer promotion in the CCLS Community Business Directory free of charge as a way to support our local businesses. However, if any business or individual would like an opportunity to make a gift to CCLS Boosters, you may do so (in any amount) at this link.
Teacher Appreciation

Are you looking for a way to thank the various CCLS teachers and staff who not only teach our children, but love on them and pray over them? Did you know there are monthly events to show this love and appreciation, and that your help is needed? This school year, rather than asking parents to donate food or other items to our Teacher Appreciation events, we are offering an opportunity for those who wish to help to make a financial gift to CCLS in support of these activities.
Online Book Fair: Save the Date!
The Scholastic Book Fair is back! While the Fair will be exclusively held online this year, we still plan on making it a fun and joyous experience for our kids. CCLS will have its own online store on October 23-November 5 with a large selection of titles, where you can browse by grade, meet popular authors, and discover new books, all from the comfort of your own home. PLUS every dollar you spend will benefit our school directly (25% back in rewards!)
We can’t wait to “see” you at the Fair!

School Supply Drive

Girl Scout Troop 346 is working on earning the Cadette Troops Bronze award! Help them by bringing school supplies in the week of October 11-16. The supplies will be donated to Kidsmart that supplies schools that have at least a 75% of their students on the free and reduced lunch Program. They also have drives to give supplies to students in homes due to Covid homeschooling. The big items they need are pencils, notebooks, scissors, markers, glue and crayons.
Runganda 2020 is open for registration!!!!

Take part in this year’s virtual fun run, November, 7, hosted by Christ Community International in support of CCLS-Uganda.
