August is filled with excitement!

A new school year is upon us as August 8 marks the first day of school for many students and families in Clark County followed by an August 15 start in Washoe County. Counselors, teachers, and administrators are already working on getting classrooms and lessons ready for the new school year and are preparing for excited students. The hustle and bustle has officially begun, school supplies are being purchased and schedules are being sorted.

Our annual fundraising event, Art of Childhood, will take place on August 19 at Rancharrah. If you are not attending the event in person, you can still support us by participating in online bidding for silent auction items starting August 17. Visit www.artofchildhood.org to stay up to date on all details for the event.

At the event, we are looking forward to honoring Sandy Raffealli with the Dixie May Philanthropy Award for the amazing support Sandy has provided not only to The Children's Cabinet but to our entire community. Sandy is a leader that is constantly giving back and we are thrilled to be able to recognize what she has done, and what she continues to do.

Back to School for Students

The new school year is quickly approaching, with students returning this upcoming Monday in Clark County, and in Washoe County a week later. As parents get ready for sending their children back, there are Back to School fairs in Washoe County scheduled:

Reno Back to School Clinic and Resource Fair

August 6, 2022 - 9:00 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Family Estate Planning Series

We are excited to be part of the Family Estate Planning Series presented by the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada and PBS Reno. This 7-week series prepares you with all the tools and resources you need to prepare your own plan.

The series takes place from September 7 - October 19 with two different time options, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m.
